Pick #1: Paolo Banchero Over 27.5 Points & Assists
Even though Orlando is 0-5 and missing the majority of its backcourt rotation, Paolo Banchero has been making history. The 2022 first overall pick is putting up outrageous numbers, making a seamless transition to the the pros. If it wasn’t for Banchero, Orlando would be much bigger underdogs than they are against Charlotte on Friday night.

29 PTS, 8 REB, 3 3PTThe Magic are 0-5

Banchero has scored 20 or more in all of his games, averaging 7.6 boards and 3.2 dimes. With Orlando missing all of its point guards in Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs, look for the rookie to take an even greater playmaking burden. His usage is already 17th in the Association, ahead of Devin Booker, Cade Cunningham and DeMar DeRozan.
Orlando faces a Hornets team which is bound to be one of the worst defensive groups in the league. They are fortunate to be 16th as it stands, and they have no one with the quickness and strength to cope with Banchero’s bully-ball. Fifth in free-throw attempts per game, look for Banchero to get to the line frequently, too. Charlotte ranks in the bottom five in opponent free throw attempts.
Paolo Banchero is the first player in their first five career games to total 120+ points, 35+ rebounds, and 15+ assists, since:

The Seattle native has passed this line in three of five, including a 29-point gem against Cleveland on Wednesday. This game is a great chance for the Magic to get their first win of the season, and Banchero can lead them to it.
Pick: Paolo Banchero over 27.5 points and assists (-115)
Pick #2: Tyrese Haliburton Over 9.5 Assists
The 1-4 Indiana Pacers are understandably underdogs for their game against the Washington Wizards on Friday night. Indy faces a 3-1 Wizards team, who have a considerable talent advantage across the roster. The Pacers are in the depths of a rebuild, but there are shoots of optimism with their backcourt pair of Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin.

Haliburton has carried on with the Pacers where he left off with the Kings before the trade. With the keys to the offense, Haliburton is dissecting defenses to the tune of 10 assists per game. He has reached double figures in each of his last four. Only Luka Doncic has a higher assist rate on the young season.
Washington’s defense ranks fifth in the early going, but this isn’t sustainable with their personnel. There is no obvious option to stifle Haliburton, and many of their good defensive numbers can be attributed to poor opponent shooting, with teams hitting just 33.1% of their threes against the Wizards and 46.1% of their shots from inside the arc.
Most points per game created off assists this season:
26.2 — Haliburton
25.6 — Harden
25.5 — Trae
25.3 — CP3 pic.twitter.com/TTSH4SjCIB— StatMuse (@statmuse) October 27, 2022
Indiana has scored over 100 points in all of its games. They will be competitive enough in this game for Haliburton to play his usual 30+ minutes. His track record indicates that he can cruise to double-digit assists in that time.
Pick: Tyrese Haliburton over 9.5 assists (-118)
