  • The Denver Nuggets are 1.5-point road ‘dogs as they visit the LA Clippers
  • Denver is seeking their fifth straight win, while LA just snapped a 6-game slide last time out
  • Read below for the Nuggets vs Clippers odds and predictions

It’s the lone road stop in the middle of nine home games for the Denver Nuggets (28-13, 10-10 away).

After a perfect 4-0 homestand, they’ll seek their fifth straight win and 15th in the last 18 outings as they visit the Los Angeles Clippers (22-21, 121-9 home).

LA just snapped a six-game skid with a win at home over the Dallas Mavericks last time out. While Kawhi Leonard appears to be rounding into form, the Clips won’t be close to full strength in this one.

It all gets underway Friday (January 13) at 10pm ET from crypto.com Arena, in a game you can see live on ESPN.

Despite their recent hot play that has them at the top of the West, not to mention their recent dominance over the Clippers, Denver is still a 1.5-point road ‘dog in the NBA odds, and just a slight -104 favorite on the moneyline.

This is the third of four regular-season meetings, with the Nuggets having won the previous two, both by double digits. They’ve taken seven of the last eight head-to-head matchups.

Denver Betting Analysis

The Nuggets showed no mercy to the short-handed and road-weary Phoenix Suns last time out, drilling them 126-97 to complete the impressive 4-game home stand.

Nikola Jokic, in the 2023 NBA MVP odds mix, seeking a third straight trophy, led the way with 21 points, 18 rebounds and nine dimes in three quarters of work.

Six other Nuggets, including the four other starters, finished in double-digit scoring. Bones Hyland drilled 5-for-7 from downtown en route to 21 points, while also adding four assists. Jamal Murray had 16 points and six assists, though he did suffer an ankle sprain in the fourth quarter. He is listed as probable Friday.

Denver held two of their four opponents under 100 points during the home win streak, and no team scored more than 109 points. For the year, they allow just 108.3 points per game at home.

It’s a different story on the road. Denver opponents average 118.5 points per game. To put that into context, each arena they visit has the home team scoring at a clip of the Boston Celtics, the no. 2 scoring team in the NBA.

Los Angeles Betting Analysis

Los Angeles fans are hoping it’s this Kawhi Leonard for the rest of the season.

The 2-time NBA Finals MVP poured in a season-high 33 points, adding nine rebounds, four assists and four steals, as the Clippers beat the Mavericks 113-101. Norman Powell added 27 points and four boards off the bench, while Terrance Mann had 12 points and five rebounds.

Kawhi’s minutes played are a good sign. He logged 36 against Dallas, and he’s played at least 34 minutes in six of his last seven appearances.

It’s not all good news though: all-star Paul George (hamstring) will likely miss his fourth straight game, while another key wing, Luke Kennard  (calf) could miss his third straight contest.

The Clippers have also temporarily banished Reggie Jackson to the bench as a healthy DNP. He’s averaging just 6.8 points in his last five, crossing double-digits just once.

This is an LA side that already struggles to score, putting up just 109.2 points per game — tied for the 2nd-lowest output in the NBA. Good thing they are tired with the 3rd-best scoring D, allowing just 110 points.

Nuggets vs Clippers Betting Prediction

When you’re rolling like the Nuggets are, all the betting stats look mighty promising. They’re 4-0 against the spread in the last four, and they’ve covered in six straight games against teams with a winning record.

As for the Clips, they are 1-5 ATS in their last six, one of those a 122-91 thumping by these Nuggets, who built a 66-32 halftime lead and cruised to a blowout win.

Despite Denver’s average road play, they’re on a good run against a Clippers’ squad that is just 2-6 ATS in the last eight home head-to-heads.
