Suffering from significant injury woes just a week into the new season, the Cleveland Cavaliers (1-2, 0-2 home, 0-3 ATS) need a win tonight to avoid something that didn’t happen all of last season: a three-game home losing streak.
But the Cavs, who only lost back-to-back home games once last year, find themselves as slight home underdogs to the visiting New York Knicks (1-2, 1-1 away, 1-1-1 ATS) on Tuesday night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse (7:30 pm ET).
Knicks vs Cavaliers Odds
Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
New York Knicks | -2.5 (-110) | -140 | O 213.5 (-115) |
Cleveland Cavaliers | +2.5 (-110) | +115 | U 213.5 (-105) |
The Knicks are listed as 2.5-point road favorites in Tuesday’s NBA odds and -140 on the moneyline to win straight-up. The Cavs, who were only home underdogs twice all of the last season, come back as a +115 bet to get their first home win of the season.
The over/under is sitting at just 213.5, which is the lowest total to date in the still-young NBA season. New York is 1-2 over/under on the season while the Cavs are 2-1.

The Knicks took three of four from the Cavaliers last year in the regular season, including three straight to end the year, before New York dusted Cleveland aside 4-1 in the first round of the playoffs. Their most-recent regular-season meeting was a 130-116 New York win in Cleveland on March 31, 2023, with Jalen Brunson dropping 48 points to outduel Donovan Mitchell, who had a team-high 42 for Cleveland.

That impressive win last March was part of an excellent overall road performance from the Knicks last year, with their 24-17 away record playing a massive part in grabbing the number-five seed in the East.

Mitchell is listed with a game-high over/under of 31.5 points, but wagers will be voided if he doesn’t play. Brunson is the high man for the Knicks at 22.5, followed closely by Randle at 20.5.
Only two Cavs besides Mitchell are even listed in the NBA player props at DraftKings: Evan Mobley and Isaac Okoro. Mobley’s point total has been set at just 17.5 despite the uncertainty around Mitchell’s health. With Spider out against Indiana last time out, Mobley led the Cavs with 33 points and 14 rebounds despite only playing 33 minutes due to some foul trouble.
Knicks vs Cavaliers Predictions
The Cavaliers have yet to cover a spread this season and, walking wounded that they are, it’s a big ask of Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley to keep this game within two points on Tuesday night, especially with Mitchell laboring under a hamstring injury.
That said, I like Mobley to go over both his point total and rebound total against New York. The Cavs big-man averaged 11.7 rebounds per game last season and, with Jarrett Allen sidelined, will be asked to shoulder a massive burden on the glass tonight. He’s piled up 29 rebounds over the past two games. Mitchell is more likely than not to suit up tonight, but he won’t be at 100% and that should lead to Mobley being more involved on the offensive end.
Knicks vs Cavaliers Picks:
- Knicks -2.5 (-110)
- Evan Mobley over 17.5 points (-115) and over 11.5 rebounds (-130)
