  • The NBA playoffs continue on April 23 with three more Game 2s
  • The Celtics could be vulnerable without Jayson Tatum in Game 2 against the Magic
  • See my shoot-for-the-moon three-leg +2257 NBA parlay on Wednesday night which includes one pick from each game

The 2025 NBA playoffs have been very chalky so far. Only one two plus-money underdogs have won straight-up in the first 13 games (MIN in Game 1 vs LAL and DET in Game 2 vs NYK). But history says that could change on Wednesday night and, if it does, bettors could be in for a windfall.

I have crafted a three-leg NBA parlay for Wednesday night that targets two underdogs and one over, with one pick from each of the three games.

Longshot NBA Parlay Today (Wednesday, April 23)

PickOdds
Magic ML+410
MIA/CLE Over 211.5-108
Warriors ML+140
Parlay+2257

Today’s NBA parlay starts with the biggest swing of all, the Magic to win straight-up against the Celtics, continues with the Heat/Cavaliers going over their total for the second straight game, and finishes with the Warriors knocking off the Rockets again in Houston. Altogether, the three legs add up to +2257 odds at FanDuel.

If all three legs of this NBA parlay hit, a $100 bet would profit $2,257. But remember, if any leg loses, the entire parlay is a loss.

NBA Parlay Pick #1: Magic Moneyline

Orlando played Boston tough in the opener despite the lopsided final score (103-86). The Magic even took a one-point lead into halftime (49-48). In Game 2 on Wednesday, the Celtics are likely to be without Jayson Tatum (26.8 PPG, 8.7 RPG, 6.0 APG), who led the team in points, rebounds, and assists in the regular season. Tatum is listed as doubtful with a wrist injury.

Even if Tatum was in the lineup, I would still be taking a hard look at the Magic as massive longshots. Boston has had a penchant for slipping up at home early in playoff series the last few seasons. Last year the C’s lost Game 2 to Miami in the first round and Game 2 to the Cavaliers in the second round. The year prior, they lost Game 5 at home to Atlanta in the first round, Games 1 and 5 to the 76ers in the second round, and Games 1 and 2 to the Heat in the East finals.

Recent Celtics Home Playoff Losses

Opponent/YearScoreSpread
Cavaliers – Game 2 (2024)118-94BOS -12.5
Heat – Game 2 (2024)111-101BOS -14.5
Heat – Game 2 (2023)111-105BOS -9.5
Heat – Game 1 (2023)123-116BOS -8.5
76ers – Game 5 (2023)115-103BOS -7.5
76ers – Game 1 (2023)119-115BOS -10.5
Hawks – Game 5 (2023)119-117BOS -13.5

They’re not immune from letdowns on their home court, far from it, and Orlando will be desperate to gain a foothold in the series. This has all the trappings of an upset-in-the-making and is the perfect way to start off today’s longshot NBA parlay.

NBA Parlay Pick #2: Heat/Cavaliers Over 211.5

Miami and Cleveland combined for 221 points in Game 1, a 121-100 Cleveland victory, and I expect another fairly high-scoring game on Wednesday night. Miami was able to win two road games in the Play-In Tournament thanks to its defense, taking down the Bulls (109-90) and the run-and-gun Hawks (123-114 in OT). But they surrendered 121 points to the Cavs while playing at a brutally-slow pace. Game 1 featured just 89 possessions over 48 minutes; Cleveland played at an average pace of 100.31 in the regular season (10th-fastest in the NBA) while Miami finished at 97.08 (24th).

Yes, playoff basketball is always slower and more defensively-intense. But bettors can expect the pace to pick up a bit in Game 2. The Cavs played at an average pace of 93.50 in last year’s playoffs while Miami was at 91.60. Indeed, no team in the postseason last year played at a pace slower than 91.09.

Both teams shot just over 40% from three in Game 1, which really helps over bettors. But there are also two proven rosters from beyond the arc. Cleveland finished the regular season with the second-best three-point percentage (38.3%) while Miami was 11th (36.7%). They might not hit at over 40% again, but with a few more possessions tonight, the total isn’t likely to go down over ten points.

NBA Parlay Pick #3: Heat/Cavaliers Over 211.5

I already explained in my Warriors vs Rockets prediction why I like the value on Golden State at +140. Suffice to say, it mostly boils down to experience. Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler have it and the Rockets (mostly) don’t. Houston’s most-experienced postseason player, Fred VanVleet, was one of the worst on the court in Game 1. A former NBA champ with the Raptors, VanVleet was just 4-of-19 from the floor for 10 points. Alperen Sengun was the only Rocket who scored more than 11 points.

The stage looked to big for the young Rockets, and I expect the veteran Warriors to smell blood in the water tonight. It won’t be lost on the likes of Curry, Butler, Draymond Green, and coach Steve Kerr what ending this series early would mean for their overall NBA title chances. Rest will be crucial if the Dubs are going to cash as +1600 fourth-favorites in the NBA championship odds.
