Atlanta has lost four in a row on road and will be looking to break .500 here. Miami meanwhile ended a two-game skid with the victory over the weekend. Both teams are currently neck in neck in the play-in race in the NBA playoff bracket and also not far off the sixth place Brooklyn Nets.

Can the Hawks Find Consistency?
Atlanta is definitely not living up to expectations this season with a .500 record. they’ve been so inconsistent that head coach Nate McMillan was fired last month and Quin Snyder stepped in as his replacement. The former Utah Jazz boss is 1-2 since taking over for the Hawks, grabbing a big win over the Blazers while losing to the Wizards and Heat.
The storyline on Saturday was the non-existence of franchise star Trae Young, who scored a season-low eight points against a Miami team who also locked him up in last year’s playoffs. Young is the one who always sets the tone for Atlanta but he had a very difficult time doing so here.

The Hawks’ shooting woes from deep continued, draining just 30% of their triple and also coughing up the rock 16 times. Saddiq Bey finished with a team-high 22 points off the bench. If Atlanta is going to avoid the play-in they really need to find some consistency down the stretch. That comes down to actually knocking down shots from long-range and improving defensively.
Scoring Is an Issue for Miami
The Heat have always been strong on the defensive end. But offensively, 2022-23 has been a nightmare for this group. They rank 30th in PPG, 28th in three-point field goal percentage, and 29th in field goal percentage. Outside of Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Bam Adebayo, there’s a serious lack of production.
Nevertheless, Miami is still in seventh place and right on Brooklyn’s heels. And if the Heat can play more like they did Saturday, perhaps steering clear of the play-in could become a reality. Bam dropped 30 points and grabbed 11 boards to lead the way, while Herro added 20. Jimmy Buckets also had 15.

Erik Spoelstra’s squad shot 37% from downtown, 51% from the field, and 87% from the charity stripe. Aside from the 19 turnovers, this was a relatively solid performance from Miami. With their next three games in South Beach, this is the perfect time for them to string together some wins.
Hawks vs Heat Prediction
The Heat is 2-1 against Atlanta this season. Although we rarely know what Miami team we’re going to get each night, they’re a lot better at home and can clearly have Young’s number. Three points shouldn’t be too difficult to cover.
Pick: Heat -3 (-110)
