Dishin’ Dimes Episode 6: The NBA Name Game

Hosted by Ryan Murphy and Matt McEwan, Dishin’ Dimes is a weekly half-hour podcast for hardcore hoops heads that examines the biggest stories and trends from the Association. We pride ourselves on being quirkier than Jeremy Lin’s hairstyles, more informed than LeBron James’ inner circle, and more opinionated than Charles Barkley after a bottle of bourbon.
Imagine being plucked from your cushy California high school and sent 5,000 miles across the sea to live in a tiny European town where no one speaks your language. No, it’s not the premise of a new reality show, but it is the harsh new reality facing LaMelo Ball, who just signed a contract to play for Prienai-BirÅ¡tonas Vytautas of the Lithuanian Basketball League.
The low-level team doesn’t have a GM, or a regular practice schedule, and it pays players just $500 per month (when it pays them at all). Matt and I look deep into our crystal balls (his are a little hairier than mine) and forecast LaMelo’s grim future in our latest and greatest episode of Dishin’ Dimes.
We also discuss Matt Barnes’ colorful career and consider which would be worse: wearing 1980s-style nut huggers to the gym five days a week or wearing Kareem Abdul Jabbar-style goggles to a job interview.
