There’s good news and bad news today. The good news is, we’re halfway home in terms of the workweek. The bad news is, we still have half of the workweek to get through. One thing that’s always helped me in situations like this is gambling, specifically on the NBA. You see, every week the NBA gifts us workers a beautiful multi-game slate to bet our hard-earned money on. We’re talking every week here people. Lucky for us, it’s no different this week as we’ve got eight games to sift through in search of gold. Not to brag, but I’ve already sifted through this thing and found plenty. Keep reading and you can have some of this gold for yourself.

NBA Player Prop Pick #1: Kyle Filipowski Double-Double

March is the month where we really start to see wild stuff in the NBA. Teams begin the weird “resting” of star players which creates opportunities for the younger guys to flash their junk for everyone to see. Naturally, the books are in a bad spot since they have no idea how to price these guys since they really haven’t played much. It’s beautiful.

One guy that fits the criteria of someone the books have no idea how to price is Kyle Filipowski.

The Utah Jazz are in 15th place in the Western Conference so there is no reason for them to play their “guys” every night. That’s just how the NBA has worked for years so it’s nothing new. Anyone who pays attention to the Jazz can obviously see they’ve been playing the “rest/injury” game for weeks now.

One guy who has benefited from extra playing time is Kyle Filipowski. When Walker Kessler, Lauri Markkanen and John Collins are all healthy, Filipowski doesn’t play much. But every single one of those guys are out tonight which gives our new friend, Kyle, an opportunity to stuff cash in our pockets.

Playing time is great but another aspect to this game we play is opponent and the Jazz have a great one tonight in the Washington Wizards. They play at a breakneck pace with little to no defense involved. Centers score and grab rebounds like it’s a video game. In this environment, a Kyle Filipowski Double-Double should be -200 but instead we’re getting +120 at FanDuel. Feels easy.

NBA Player Prop Prediction #2: Cade Cunningham 25+ Points

The NBA is a superstar sport. It always has been. Debates about the GOAT are always going to happen because people appreciate greatness. It’s not their fault, greatness is great.

Now Cade Cunningham will likely never be in the GOAT conversation, but at some point, we need to start talking about him like he’s a legit superstar in this league. Because he is.

I don’t love taking bets in the -120 price range but value is value. I enjoy the plus-money banger as much as the next guy but at the same time, if something should be -150 and we can bet it at -120, then we should definitely do it. That’s exactly what’s going on tonight.

Even though Cade Cunningham is a point guard, he can still score. Sure he’s going to play make quite a bit, which leads to assists and not points, but let’s not fool ourselves. The man is fully capable of taking 20+ shots in a game. He does it all the time.

Tonight could be a situation where we see Cade play a little “chuck-and-duck”. He’ll see the Los Angeles Clippers who are without Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell. Cunningham just played these guys a couple weeks ago and hammered them for 32 points on 22 shot attempts. We only need 25 tonight. Feels easy.

  • The Bet: Cade Cunningham 25+ Points (-120) – FanDuel
