We’re in for a real treat tonight when the New York Knicks pay a visit to the Golden State Warriors. One of the best things the NBA ever did was give us gamblers a weekly Saturday night marquee matchup. There’s just something about a primetime, nationally televised game that gets the people going. My favorite way of celebrating this weekly occurrence is by betting on the game. It just makes sense. Lucky for us, I woke up early this morning and analyzed this entire game. What I found was amazing. We’ve got two plus-money bangers that, at the moment, look like they have a 0.0% chance of losing. Feels good.

Knicks vs Warriors Prediction #1: Mikal Bridges Is A Play-Maker Now?

Anytime there is an injury to a star in the NBA, us gamblers have to take notice. Why? Because in almost every case, usage opens up for other players on the team. When that happens, the books are at a disadvantage because they have to price everyone. The issue is, everyone is in a new role and no one really knows what to expect.

This just happened to the New York Knicks when Jalen Brunson went down. A guy like Mikal Bridges, who is a natural scorer, was forced into facilitating.

Obviously, Mikal Bridges is a scorer. he generally takes 10+ shots per game while playing lockdown defense. That really hasn’t changed since the Brunson injury but one thing that has is play-making responsibilities. He has turned into a borderline dime guy.

In three games without Brunson, Bridges actually leads the team in potential assists. Josh Hart was an obvious candidate for a larger role, but Bridges is right there with him. It’s no surprise that in all three games, Bridges has finished with at least four assists. In one of the games, he finished with eight. There is meat on this bone.

The Warriors present a decent matchup for a guy like Bridges. On the season, roughly 64% of their opponents’ field goals are assisted. Just the other night we saw shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe drop eight dimes on them. All we need out of Bridges tonight is five. Feels easy.

Knicks vs Warriors Pick #2: Is Buddy Hield a Play-Maker Now Too?

I’m a three-ball guy. Always have been. If we’re playing pick up, I’m hanging by the three-point line just waiting to drop one. That’s why I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Buddy Hield.

Ever since college, he’s been a guy that could put the ball in the basket from anywhere on the court.

In the NBA, times and situations change. Players evolve and they add things to their game along the way. For Hield, it was passing. Early on, he was a shooter only, then in recent years, he became a guy who enjoyed watching other guys do dirt.

This season with the Warriors, he looks to be more of a “shooter only” but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been sharing the rock. In his last two games, 7.5 potential assists per game. He has managed to turn those 15 potential assists into 12 actual dimes. That’s big.

Tonight against the Knicks, we shouldn’t expect Buddy to keep such a torrid assist pace but he should still see some dime opportunity. The last time these teams met, we watched Brandin Podziemski drop four dimes on eight potentials. We only need two from Buddy tonight. Feels easy.

  • The Bet: Buddy Hield Over 1.5 Assists (+105) – DraftKings
