Kape vs Almabayev Prediction

Portuguese flyweight Manel Kape looks to climb the UFC rankings in the main event of the evening. The former RIZIN champ has built a solid resume in the UFC, winning five of his past six bouts. “Starboy’s” explosive striking ability, counters, and knockout power make him a terrifying matchup for anyone in the flyweight division.

Meanwhile, Kazakhstani scrapper Asu Almabayev has taken the UFC’s flyweight division by storm. Almabayev has won four straight fights to begin his UFC career, and looks to be on a path to greatness. The Kazakh fighter has won 17 straight bouts while building a reputation as a phenomenal grappler with an arsenal of submissions. Almabayev will look to suffocate Kape and wear him down with relentless pressure.

This classic clash of fighting styles makes the UFC Fight Night main event a fascinating breakdown. Kape will want to keep the fight standing and use his footwork to avoid takedowns. While Almabayev’s greatest path to victory lies to closing the distance and forcing Kape to grapple while hunting for a submission.

Ultimately, Almabayev’s defensive abilities and takedown accuracy gives him the edge here. “Zulfikar’s” well-rounded skill set will allow him to dictate the pace, and where this fight takes place. Bet on Almabayev to win at plus money.

Pick: Asu Almabayev to win (+180)

Brundage vs Marquez Prediction

In the co-main event, Cody Brundage and Julian Marquez meet in a middleweight scrap that promises fireworks. Brundage is the quintessential MMA wild card. The Chaplin, South Carolina native is a heavy-handed brawler with some wrestling skills and a tendency to gas out. Brundage suffered a submission loss to rising star Bo Nickal last April, before a no-contest ended his last bout.

On the other side of the Octagon, Julian “The Cuban Missile Crisis” Marquez lives up to his nickname. He’s a slugger who will eat punches to land his own. Unfortunately, that’s led to three straight knockout losses, and likely, a battle for his job on Saturday night.

Ultimately, Brundage is in far better form than Marquez. If he can ground Marquez and keep him on his back foot, the fight will be over quickly. Look for Brundage to impose his wrestling early and look for a finish.

Pick: Cody Brundage 1+ total takedowns (-190), Fight to end in the first round (-125)
