Pereira vs Ankalaev Prediction

Alex Pereira puts his light heavyweight belt on the line for the third time at UFC 313. Pereira sits atop the mountain as one of the most dominant champions in UFC history. An acclaimed knockout artist, “Poatan” boasts incredible knockout power. Any of Pereira’s four limbs can put his opponent to sleep at anytime.

A winner of four straight bouts by knockout, Pereira uses his outstanding fight IQ and timing to stymie even his most experienced opponents. Impressively, the former Glory kickboxing champion has finished seven of his last 10 fights within the first two rounds. On top of that, Pereira holds the highest significant strike accuracy (67.2%) in UFC light heavyweight history. Even the slightest mistake from Ankalaev during UFC 313’s main event could be costly.

Meanwhile, all Magomed Ankalaev does is win. The Dagestani-born scrapper boasts an 11-fight win streak, and 11 knockout victories in his career. In fact, Ankalaev is undefeated in the UFC since falling to Paul Craig in his debut at UFC Fight Night 127 way back in 2018.

Having said that, all of the hype is on Ankalaev heading into this bout. While he’ll prove to be a worthy challenger, I’m all over Alex Pereira as a slight favorite to retain his light heavyweight belt. Look for “Poatan” to maintain his distance and pick apart the Dagestani at range before finishing the fight with a classic combo.

  • Pick: Alex Pereira to win (-115)

Justin Gaethje vs Rafael Fiziev

Get ready for a scrap. UFC veteran Justin Gaethje and Rafael Fiziev may just steal the show as they meet for a second time at UFC 313. Gaethje has developed into a highlight-reel fighter – for better, or worse – who thrives in the chaos at the center of the Octagon. His devastating striking and absurd cardio have made him one of the most dangerous brawlers in UFC history.

Coming off a brutal knockout loss to Max Holloway at UFC 300, the 36-year-old will be aiming to get back in the win column after nearly a year on the sidelines. Gaethje’s kill-or-be-killed mentality could be a betting goldmine, as he’s finished 21 of 25 career victories, and all five of his losses have come by stoppage.

On the flip side, promising Azerbaijani fighter Rafael Fiziev has suffered two straight losses. The 32-year-old burst onto the scene with sixth straight victories before losing two fights way back in 2023. A former Muay Thai standout, Fiziev’s crisp striking, and creative use of angles can leave opponents stunned. Fisiev’s body kicks are notoriously lethal and he counters with surgical precision.

This fight won’t see the scorecards. Each of these men boasts knockout power and the ability to finish the fight from nearly any plausible position. Gaethje will likely look to press his opponent, while Fiziev will be aiming for a kill shot. If Gaethje can drag this fight into deep waters he may be able to grind out a victory. However, I like Fiziev to stay disciplined, weather the storm, and produce a highlight-reel finish

  • Pick: Rafael Fiziev by knockout (+200)
