Glover Teixeira has continuously turned back the clock and proven age is just a number.
In the main event of UFC Vegas 13, Teixeira submitted Thiago Santos in the third round after being dropped in the third and rocked early in the first. However, he was able to rally and with the win, and he is now on a five-fight winning streak. All that being said, he may not be next in light to fight Jan Blachowicz and his light heavyweight title.
Now, after the event, sportsbooks released odds on who Glover Teixeira will fight next.
Glover Teixeira’s Next Opponent Odds
Fighter | Odds |
---|---|
Jan Blachowicz | -110 |
Israel Adesanya | +150 |
Jon Jones | +300 |
Dominick Reyes | +400 |
Vadim Nemkov | +450 |
Robert Whittaker | +600 |
Paulo Costa | +800 |
Odds taken Nov. 10
Will He Fight For The Belt Next?
Glover Teixeira should no doubt be fighting for the belt next, but that is likely to not be the case.

The Brazilian is no doubt the No. 1 contender, however, the UFC has announced Israel Adesanya will move up to try and become a champ-champ when he fights Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title in March. So, for Teixeira, unfortunately, it is unlikely he will be fighting for the belt next unless he waits until late in 2021.
Who Is Likely Glover’s Next Opponent?
I can see why Jan Blachowicz is the favorite, as fans have called for Teixeira to fight Blachowicz for the belt. But, the UFC seems set on having Adesanya become a champ-champ. Then, if he wins the light heavyweight belt, he will have to go back down and defend his middleweight title.
After that, the super fight with Jon Jones would likely take place. So, at this point in time, I don’t think Blachowicz or Adesanya will be next for the Brazilian.

Looking at the list, you can immediately remove Vadim Nemkov’s name as he is in Bellator and is not going to the UFC anytime soon. Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa are middleweights and won’t move up, so they too can be removed. Finally, Jon Jones won’t be fighting unless it is for the belt so, that only leaves Dominick Reyes as his next opponent.
After the event happened, I said the winner of Jiri Prochazka vs Dominick Reyes should be next for Glover Teixeira if Blachowicz-Adesanya does happen. So, I don’t understand why the Czech native is not on the list, but Dominick Reyes is the most likely outcome and at +400 is good value.
Pick: Dominick Reyes (+400)
