Does the Winner Get a Shot on the Contender Series?
Anthony Kalani will be making his LFA debut with a ton of hype behind him from Hawaii, with three of his wins in the first round and four stoppage wins in total. Tee Cummins, meanwhile, is only 2-0 in MMA but has also fought twice in Bare Knuckle, which has helped his striking and proven he has legit power.
Kalani & Cummins Recent Fights
Devin Harden, win by TKO | Fight 1 | Brian Maxwell, win by decision (Bare Knuckle) |
Brian Carter, win by submission | Fight 2 | John McCallister, win by TKO (Bare Knuckle) |
Thomas Ferguson, win by decision | Fight 3 | Herbert Morgan, win by KO |
Jason Ehresmann, win by TKO | Fight 4 | Jay Wilson, win by KO |
This fight will really tell just how good Tee Cummins is in MMA. He has already proven himself as a force in Bare Knuckle, but MMA is a different game and Kalani is a very well-rounded fighter.
Early on, I do expect Kalani and Cummins to strike with one another where both men will land some solid shots. However, eventually, I do think Kalani will shoot for a takedown and take this fight to the mat. Although Kalani is known as a striker, he is the better grappler and has a clear path to victory on the ground.
Ultimately, I do expect Kalani to land the better shots and use his kicks and footwork to avoid the power shots of Cummins. Eventually, I do believe he will take Cummins down and either get a submission win or ground and pound TKO to remain undefeated and likely earn a shot on the Contender Series this summer.
Pick: Anthony Kalani (-175)
Other LFA 101 Picks:
- Jalin Fuller (+120): Fuller should be able to take Vines down and either control the fight for a decision or get a submission win.
- Miguel Jacob (-220): Jacob looks like a legit prospect, and he should be able to outwork Nichols for a decision win.
- Jacqueline Amorim (-1000): Amorim should be able to submit Gandy early, however, the odds are way too high to play her straight.
- Hunter Colvin (-280): Ikebunna is known as a grappler, however, Colvin is a lot better. I expect Colvin to take the fight to the ground and get a submission or ground and pound TKO.
