Dana White’s Contender Series has been must-watch TV for MMA fans who have had the chance to see future UFC stars earn their way into the promotion. The show has produced the likes of Sean O’Malley, Geoff Neal, Julian Marquez, and Grant Dawson among others.
After eight episodes, 32 contracts have been handed out, and six more fights happen on Tuesday, October 26 as those fighters try to earn themselves a UFC deal. Week 8 takes place at the UFC Apex and in the main event, Jansey Silva takes on Gadzhi Omargadzhiev.

Can Silva Pull Off Massive Upset?
Jansey Silva (7-1) is on a three-fight winning streak and fought back in March where he scored a first-round KO. The Brazilian has been fighting in local promotions in Brazil, but the level of competition has not been there as in his last fight, he fought someone with a losing record. He has only fought four people with winning records and two of them were 1-0. He also hasn’t fought anyone of note.
Gadzhi Omargadzhiev (12-0) has been fighting in his home country of Russia and has been fighting good competition. In his last fight, he beat an opponent who was 7-0 and he has never fought someone with a losing record but has fought four people with a .500 record or people who were making their debut, but that happened early in his career.

Omargadzhiev will come out aggressive and look to put away Silva early. Although many Russians are known for their grappling, he prefers to keep it standing and look for the KO, which he does effectively.
The Russian has insane one-punch KO power and I doubt Silva will be able to take Omargadzhiev down or be able to stand with him. He’ll get pieced up and rocked on the feet and eventually, the Russian will find the first-round TKO. At -510 it is hard to lay, so you could parlay him with another fighter from the replies or look for a prop on Gadzhi Omargadzhiev inside the distance and the under 1.5 rounds.
Pick: Gadzhi Omargadzhiev (-510)
Other DWCS Week 9 Picks:
- Christian Quinonez (-320): Quinonez will be able to keep the fight standing and eventually find a TKO win to get a UFC deal. He’s a good parlay piece with Omargadzhiev.
- Javid Basharat (-255): Kahlon is 40-years-old, and I’m not sure why he’s on DWCS. Basharat will be able to out grapple Kahlon and eventually find a ground and pound TKO win to get a UFC deal.
- Qihui Yan (+175): Yan is the better grappler and will be able to control the fight on the ground to win a decision but not a UFC contract.
- Kolton Englund (-150): This should be a back-and-forth fight on the feet which Englund wins by decision but doesn’t get a contract.
- Bin Xie (-195): Xie is a great grappler and will be able to take Murad down and find a submission in the first or second to get himself a UFC deal.
