Will Nchukwi Remain Undefeated En Route to a UFC Contract?
Tafon Nchukwi (3-0) picked up the biggest win of his career last time out when he scored a first-round TKO win over William Knight who was on a UFC developmental deal and has since earned a UFC contract. Although the 25-year-old only has three professional fights he has looked impressive bouncing between heavyweight and light heavyweight. His other two wins also came by knockout with one in the first and the other in the second round.

Al Matavao (8-2) is a much more experienced fighter as he has 10 professional fights under his belt. He is currently on a four-fight winning streak with his past two wins coming by first-round knockout. His most notable opponent is Jake Heun who fights for RIZIN, but Matavao lost by submission.
In my opinion, this is a total mismatch and it is clear who the UFC wants to win. Nchukwi is someone who had a lot of hype behind him after he knocked out Knight.

There will also be a massive size difference as Nchukwi has been fighting at heavyweight. This will also be his first fight at light heavyweight and Matavao is primarily a middleweight and a smaller one in that.

I view this fight just like the Josh Parisian-Chad Johnson fight earlier this season. I don’t see how Matavao will be able to close the distance on Nchukwi and he will just piece him up until he lands the knockout punch. I expect it to end in the first round and Nchukwi to earn a UFC contract.
Pick: Tafon Nchukwi (-425)
Other DWCS Week 6 Picks:
- Cameron Church (-151): Church is the more well-rounded mixed martial artist and will eventually get the fight to the ground and either grind out a decision or get a submission win. Yet, I don’t see him getting a UFC deal.
- Phil Hawes (-425): The third time is the charm for Phil Hawes as he has been on The Ultimate Fighter and the Contender Series but came up short. In this fight, I expect him to get a TKO win and a UFC deal.
- Drako Rodriguez (+115): Rodriguez is someone I’ve been high on for a while and believe he should already be signed. Rodriguez will be able to survive the first and get a finish in the second or third to earn a UFC contract.
- Aliaskhab Khizriev (-285): Khizriev might be the best talent on this card as I expect him to just out-grapple Shiguemoto and eventually get a finish and a UFC contract.
