Dana White’s Contender Series has been a must-watch series for MMA fans to see future UFC stars earn their way into the promotion.
The show has produced the likes of Sean O’Malley, Geoff Neal, Sodiq Yusuff, and Ian Heinisch among countless others.
In the main event of Week 4, Jhonoven Pati takes on Jamie Pickett at middleweight. The card airs live at 8:00 pm EST on ESPN+ and TSN in Canada.

Is the Third Time the Charm for Pickett?
Jhonoven Pati (6-3) is riding a two-fight winning streak and coming off a submission win over Joseph Pyfer last November. Pyfer was on the Contender Series in Week 2. The 29-year-old has fought some high-level competition as two of his three losses are to current UFC fighters and Contender Series alums in Ryan Spann and Punahele Soriano. His other loss was to Kailan Hill who fought on DWCS last year.
Jamie Pickett (10-4) is set for his third fight on the Contender Series. He first fought on the show in 2017 losing to Charles Byrd by submission. Pickett picked up two wins on the regional scenes to earn another shot but came up short against Punahele Soriano. The 31-year-old will be one of the rare fighters to compete three times on the show.
This is a very interesting matchup with it likely being Pickett’s last time on the Contender Series. If he goes 0-3 the Las Vegas-based promotion will likely not look to him again – especially due to the fact he already is 31.

Both Pati and Pickett are primarily strikers who have lost fights by submission. It should be a standup fight and Pati is the more technical striker. We’ve also seen Pickett be pieced up on the feet before.
I believe Pati will piece up Pickett and eventually rock him with a punch to drop him and finish him via ground and pound. If he does get a stoppage win, I expect Pati to earn a UFC contract.
Pick: Jhonoven Pati (+128)

Other DWCS Week 4 Picks:
- Alejandro Flores (-134): This is a really close fight as the odds suggest but I see Flores being able to stuff the takedowns and eventually score a TKO win and earn a UFC contract.
- Jacob Silva (+155): I’ve been more impressed with Jacob Silva as I believe he is the more powerful striker and can have success on the ground and should get a decision win, but not a UFC contract.
- Anthony Romero (-180): I am super high on Romero and I believe he should already be in the UFC. He should be able to KO Breeden and get a UFC contract.
- Collin Huckbody (-175): Bowen is a natural welterweight so Huckbody should use his size to get Bowen down and eventually earn a submission win. However, I don’t expect him to get a UFC deal.
