After nine episodes, 37 contracts have been handed out, and five more fights happen on Tuesday, November 2 as those fighters try to earn themselves a UFC deal in the final week of the season. Week 10 takes place at the UFC Apex and in the main event, Achilles Estremadura takes on Maheshate.

Does Estremadura Become The Latest Canadian To Get A UFC Deal?
Achilles Estremadura (7-0) is the BFL lightweight champion, which is one of the better Canadian regional promotions. He has been the champion since his third pro fight and defended the strap four times which is impressive. In his last two fights, he hasn’t fought the highest level of competition but that is due to the fact opponents have pulled out on him and it’s hard to get non-Canadian fighters into the country to fight right now. He does have a good win over Carson Frei who is a solid regional fighter.
Maheshate (5-1) is just 21-years-old and has been fighting on the China regional scene, where his level of competition has been terrible. In his last fight, he fought someone with a 0-2 record and before that, his opponent’s records were 10-13-1, 0-0, 0-0, 10-11, and 0-1-1 and that opponent is who he lost to in his debut. He doesn’t have any notable wins in his career.

As the odds suggest, this is Achilles Estremadura’s fight to lose as he is the more well-rounded fighter and will be able to keep it standing. On the feet, he’ll be able to piece up Maheshate and land clean shots. Eventually, in the second round, I do think his striking will be too much for the 21-year-old and he’ll find the chin and drop him and get the TKO win and a UFC deal.
At -400 it is hard to play it straight, so you can parlay him with another fighter or two that are big favorites on the card as well. Or, look for Estremadura to win inside the distance prop for better value.
Other DWCS Week 10 Picks:
- Yohan Lainesse (+220): To me, this is a pick’em fight as Lainesse is the better striker with Burlinson being the better grappler. I expect Lainesse to be able to keep it standing and earn a third-round TKO and a UFC contract.
- Erisson Ferreira (-490): Ferreira will be too much on the feet and will KO Qui to get a UFC deal. He could be parlayed with Estremadura in the main event.
- Canaan Kawaihae (-135): Kawaihae was on DWCS in 2018 and lost to Chase Hooper. This time around he’ll be the one controlling the fight on the ground to win a decision but not a UFC contract.
- Juan Puerta (-180): Puerta is the better all-around fighter but I expect it to remain standing with Puerta winning a decision and a UFC deal as they need flyweights.
