Who Wins the Vacant Belt?
Patrick Mix vs Juan Archuleta is the best fight of the weekend in regards to Bellator 245 and UFC Vegas 10. Both men deserve the shot at the bantamweight title. For Archuleta, it is also his second crack at Bellator gold so he is looking to right the wrong of his decision loss to Patricio Freire last year for the featherweight strap.
Mix & Archuleta Recent Fights
Yuki Motoya, win by submission | Fight 1 | Henry Corrales, win by decision |
Isaiah Chapman, win by submission | Fight 2 | Patricio Freire, loss by decision |
Ricky Bandejas, win by submission | Fight 3 | Eduarda Dantas, win by KO |
Turrell Galloway, win by KO | Fight 4 | Ricky Bandejas, win by decision |
Entering this fight for the Bellator bantamweight title, it is basically a King of the Cage unification fight as both men held the KOTC bantamweight title.
This is a classic striker vs grappler matchup as it is no secret, Mix wants to get this fight to the ground as he is a submission specialist. He also doesn’t take long to get the fights to the ground as out of his 10 stoppage wins, eight have come in the first round. He also holds notable wins over current UFC fighters in Andre Ewell and Tony Gravely so he has been battle-tested.

As for Juan Archuleta, he has serious knockout power and throws volume strikes which will help him win some rounds if this fight goes the distance. Yet, don’t expect this fight to get into the championship rounds. Although Archuleta has never been finished in his career, Patrick Mix is a different animal.
Mix, as he does to most opponents, will get this fight down to the mat and earn a submission win in the second or third round to become the new Bellator bantamweight champion and remain undefeated.
Pick: Patrick Mix (-182)

Will Fitch Earn a Title Shot If He Wins?
Jon Fitch’s last fight happened back in 2019 when he fought then welterweight champion, Rory MacDonald to a draw. He was hoping to get an immediate rematch but that never came to fruition and hinted at retirement. The 42-year-old decided to come back for a fight against one of the rising stars in Bellator in Neiman Gracie.
Fitch & Gracie Recent Fights
Rory MacDonald, draw | Fight 1 | Rory MacDonald, loss by decision |
Paul Daley, win by decision | Fight 2 | Ed Ruth, win by submission |
Brian Foster, win by submission | Fight 3 | Javier Torres, win by submission |
Jake Shields, win by decision | Fight 4 | Zak Bucia, win by submission |
When Fitch fights, he has a simple game plan of getting his opponent down and landing ground and pound to grind out a decision win. If he does that against Gracie – which he likely will do – he could very well be submitted as Gracie has some of the best jiu-jitsu on the roster.
Fitch, however, has fought plenty of jiu-jitsu wizards, so expect him to be able to get Gracie down and neutralize him to earn a decision win and likely get the next welterweight title shot.
Pick: Jon Fitch (+135)
