- Below, you can find the Tigers vs Twins odds, best bet and our favorite player prop picks
Having taken the first two games of a four game set on the road, the Tigers (29-39, 14-21 away) look to make it three in a row against the American League Central leading Minnesota Twins (35-35, 2016 home) when they square off again on Saturday, June 17th at Target Field.
First pitch for this afternoon affair is scheduled at 2:10 pm ET in a game that can be seen on Bally Sports Network. At this point, not a single team in the division owns a record above .500, but the Twins are still heavy -185 favorites in the MLB division odds.
Leading the way for the Tigers in Friday’s 7-1 victory, was Matt Vierling who had two home runs. We’ll dive into the player prop market and give you our picks in just a bit, but first up, take a peak at the Tigers vs Twins odds below as we offer up our prediction.
Tigers vs Twins Odds
Team | Moneyline | Runline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Detroit Tigers | +160 | +1.5 (-130) | O 9 (-110) |
Minnesota Twins | -180 | -1.5 (+110) | U 9 (-110) |
After dropping the first two, Detroit has narrowed the gap in the division and is now five games back of the Twins. Nevertheless, the Tigers have a struggling starter on the mound as we detail below, so it’s the Twins that are strong -180 moneyline favorites to get one back on Saturday.
Perfect weather is expected at Target Field come game time for this one. It’ll be mostly sunny skies with the temperature a spicy 84 degrees although humidity should be relatively low, making it still fairly comfortable, nonetheless hot, for the players.

Detroit vs Minnesota Probable Pitchers
Struggling all season long, the Tigers tried something different with Joey Wentz in his last outing, bringing him out of the bullpen to work as the long man, after one inning from their “opener” last week.

The change might’ve been good for Wentz who allowed two earned runs in four and one-third innings of work. In his first full season in the majors, things have been pretty ugly for the southpaw, regardless of the MLB starting lineups he faces.
He sports a hideous 7.23 ERA on the season and hasn’t managed to pitch at least five complete innings in any of his last five starts. During that span, opponents have averaged more than two hits per inning against Wentz, a ridiculous amount of knocks in a short period of time.
Wentz vs De Leon Stats
1-6 | Record | 0-1 |
7.23 | ERA | 3.86 |
1.68 | WHIP | 1.21 |
.302 | OBA | .255 |
2.1 | SO/W Ratio | 3.8 |
This will be a bullpen game for the Twins with Jose De Leon getting the ball first and Brent Headrick expected to follow and do a lot of the heavy lifting. De Leon has gotten touched up in his last two appearances, allowing three runs in just two and a third, however prior to that he went six straight games without allowing an earned run.
Having spent the last couple of months in the minors, Headrick will likely see his first big league action since late April. While he has just a 4.23 ERA at Triple-A, he has a strong 10.6 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9. He may stick around as a middle reliever since he was relatively successful in April, sporting a 3.24 ERA in three games.
Tigers vs Twins Player Prop Picks
Mired in the worst season of his career as we approach the halfway mark of the season, Carlos Correa is slowly turning his season around, although you wouldn’t think so by looking at his .215 batting average.
Although the shortstop went hitless against Detroit on Friday, he had hits in seven straight prior to that contest and at least two total bases in six of those games. Take Correa to bounce back and pick him to exceed 1.5 total bases in this at -115 odds.

Sitting right below him in the batting order is Byron Buxton who doesn’t have a hit since returning from a bruised rib. He’s 0-for-8 with four strikeouts in two games in this series and may have been rushed back to soon. Bet against the veteran at juicy +170 odds and target under 0.5 hits for Buxton on Saturday.
Tigers vs Twins Predictions
Detroit has lost four of their last five contests straight up in the MLB odds that Wentz has appeared in. In his last five starts, opponents are hitting over .400 against him and he’s allowed three homers in his last nine innings of work.
Although he had a good outing in relief last time out, our prediction is the Twins continue their recent offensive surge and bang up the Tigers starter early and often. Minnesota (30 runs in last 5 before Friday) has averaged ??? runs per game in their last six and there’s no reason why they bump that number up on Saturday.
Pick: Minnesota Twins Run Line -1.5 (+110)
