  • The Los Angeles Dodgers host the San Francisco Giants at 10:10 p.m. ET Monday night for the first in a 4-game series.
  • The Dodgers are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball with Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts running the show. The Giants are under .500 and have lost 6 of their last 10.

There’s a Golden State battle happening Monday night in Los Angeles between the Dodgers and San Francisco Giants, who come to LA after dropping their weekend series against the Colorado Rockies.

Los Angeles just completed the sweep of the Boston Red Sox on Sunday with a pair of home runs from Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani as an exclamation mark. The Dodgers enter tonight as one of the best teams on the planet.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction

  • SF vs. LAD pick: Dodgers -125

I think this is set to be a really, really good Game 1 in Los Angeles.

Blake Snell takes the mound for the Giants Monday, and though he’s struggled some to start with his new team, he’s been like his old self since returning from IL in early July. As we’ll get into a little bit later, Snell has excellent numbers against the Dodgers lineup throughout his career and is riding high on confidence from his last 2 outings.

Because of this, I don’t think Los Angeles walks away with this one. But the Dodgers are still the better hitting team and have the luxury of batting last, so I’ll take them in a close matchup. Dodgers moneyline at -125 is a better odds play than Giants +1.5 at -195, too.

Dodgers vs. Giants Odds

Team Runline Moneyline Total
San Francisco Giants +1.5 (-195) +105 O 8.5 (-105)
Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (+162) -125 U 8.5 (-115)

As you can see, the Dodgers are slight home favorites for Monday night’s California showdown. Los Angeles sits at -125 ML with San Francisco odds at +105 to win outright. The Dodgers are -1.5 runline favorites, per usual, and hold +162 odds to win by 2 or more runs.

San Francisco is the favorite to win or keep the game within a run at +1.5 (-192).

The Over/Under for this matchup has been set at 8.5 per Caesars, with the under just slightly favored. This will be the 9th time the Giants and Dodgers play this season, and 7 of those matchups went over this total.

Giants vs. Dodgers Best Value Player Props (July 22)

Player Props (Los Angeles vs. San Francisco) Odds
Blake Snell over 6.5 Ks +110
Blake Snell over 14.5 outs -165
Shohei Ohtani over 0.5 hits -190

All odds above via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Snell’s numbers against this Dodgers lineup are unreal. He has 58 strikeouts in 144 at-bats against the Dodgers all-time, and even though he hasn’t faced this lineup this season he’s been strong lately. Snell has allowed 2 hits and 0 earned runs across his last 12 innings of work since returning from IL (Minnesota + Toronto).

This line is a perfect pair with the above pick for Snell, who has lasted 5 innings in 2 straight games since returning from injury. He’s throwing with confidence right now.

Ohtani has only faced Snell twice, but he’s batting .500 with a double and an RBI with no strikeouts. Oh, and he’s Shohei Ohtani needing just 1 hit, something he’s done in 11 of his last 12 games. The odds aren’t the most exciting, I know, but it’s a strong leg to a parlay.
