Left-hander Austin Gomber (2-4, 7.57) is scheduled to start for the Rockies against Tylor Megill (3-1, 4.11). Gomber will be pitched on five days of rest and Megill on four.

Gomber has won his last two starts with a 0.82 ERA after losing his first four outings of the season with an unsightly 12.12 ERA. Last Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Denver, Gomber gave up only one run and three hits in six innings with four strikeouts and two walks.

This will be Gomber’s third career start versus the Mets. He is 1-1 with a 2.40 ERA.

Gomber has a 1-2 record and 4.91 ERA in three starts on the road this season and is 1-2 with an 8.36 ERA in three starts during the day. Gomber has two quality starts in his six games.

Megill is going in the opposite direction as Gomber as he is 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA in his last three starts after beginning the season by winning his first three starts with a 2.25 ERA. Megill had a no-decision Monday against the Atlanta Braves in the second game of a doubleheader at Citi Field in which he went 5.2 innings and was charged with three runs while allowing four hits, striking out four and walking three.

This will be the first time Megill has faced the Rockies in his career.

Megill is unbeaten at home this season (2-0, 3.70 ERA in three starts) and in the day (3-0, 3.86 in five starts). The Mets are 4-2 in Big Drip starts, though he has only one quality start in 2023.

The Rockies activated catcher Austin Wynns, who they claimed from the Los Angeles Dodgers off waivers, prior to Friday night’s game and optioned catcher Brian Serven to Triple-A Albuquerque. Colorado also designated outfielder Yonathan Daza for assignment.
