We have our first Sunday Night Baseball of 2023 on April 2nd as the reigning NL champion Philadelphia Phillies wrap up a three-game interleague series with the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:08pm ET, with Texas looking for the sweep here. Keep reading for the Phillies vs Rangers odds.
Bailey Falter makes the start for the Phils, while the Rangers send veteran Martin Perez to the hill.
Phillies vs Rangers Odds
Team | Moneyline | Runline | Total |

Philadelphia Phillies | +105 | +1.5 (-190) | Ov 8.5 (-105) |
Texas Rangers | -125 | -1.5 (+160) | Un 8.5 (-115) |
The Rangers are the favorite at -125 moneyline odds and 1.5 on the runline. The Phillies come back at +105 in search of their first win. Texas is now unbeaten in 11 in a row against Philadelphia dating back to 2014.

Odds as of April 1st at DraftKings.
Philadelphia vs Texas Probable Starters
Falter didn’t have much of a role in the Phillies’ epic run to the World Series last fall, but he made 20 appearances overall in the regular season. The California native went 6-4 in 16 starts with a 3.86 ERA, striking out 74 in 84 innings and issuing just 17 walks.

However, Falter has never pitched against the Rangers, which isn’t a surprise since he only made his big league debut in 2021. The 25-year-old owns a 2.45 ERA in five career outings versus American League opponents, though.
Falter vs Perez 2022 Stats
6-4 | Record | 12-8 |
3.86 | ERA | 2.89 |
84.0 | Innings Pitched | 196.1 |
74 | Strikeouts | 161 |
17 | Walks | 69 |
Perez might be 31 now, but he just put together his best MLB season to date in ’22. The southpaw compiled a stellar 2.89 ERA and a 12-8 record in 32 starts, serving as the Rangers’ ace.

That campaign earned Perez an All-Star appearance as well. With deGrom also on the staff now, the hope is the two can form one of the best rotational duos in the AL. The Venezuelan also has a great track record against the Phillies, posting a 3.14 ERA in eight outings.
Tough Start For Philly
Although it’s just two games, this hasn’t been an ideal start to 2023 for the Phillies. Aaron Nola was first lit up on Opening Day as Philly lost 11-7 before getting hammered 16-3 on Saturday.

Zack Wheeler, who is typically lights out, allowed four earned in 4.1 innings and the bullpen didn’t fare much better. Seranthony Dominguez and Craig Kimbrel gave up nine earned combined as well. The offense meanwhile banged out nine hits but stranded seven runners.

Rangers Are Raking
The Texas offense is really proving its worth through the first two contests of this opening series. Knocking out two top-notch starters early in Nola and Wheeler is very impressive and as a group, the Rangers are already hitting over .300.
The @Rangers' 27 runs are tied for the 2nd-most by a team through its 1st 2 games of a season since 1900!

Bruce Bochy’s team banged out a whopping 17 hits Saturday, including three homers. Nathaniel Lower and Adonis Garcia both had three hits apiece, while catcher Mitch Garver went deep twice and drove in six. The bats are red-hot.
Phillies vs Rangers Prediction
Texas evidently has Philadelphia’s number. I expect them to keep swinging it well and sweep the Phillies for the fourth straight series.
Pick: Rangers moneyline (-125)
