- The Chicago Cubs have hit home runs in 15 straight games heading into their series against the Brewers
- The New York Yankees take on the Tampa Bay Rays in a battle for first in the AL East
- The Seattle Mariners have a 20-20 record their 13-2 start
Another great weekend of Major League Baseball is upon us as we preview three series set to start today. The Milwaukee Brewers and Cubs will battle in the NL Central for first place. In the American League, the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays will decide who will own the AL East after this weekend, while the Boston Red Sox and Mariners start a three-game series at Fenway Park.
We have odds for each of these new series as well as every other series kicking off on Friday.
Milwaukee Brewers vs Chicago Cubs Series Price
Team | Series Odds |
---|---|
Milwaukee Brewers | -190 |
Chicago Cubs | +170 |
*All odds taken 05/10/19
Cubs Have Gone 10-1 in Last 11
The power has come back on in Chicago as Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo have put together some impressive hitting numbers. Bryant has a 19-game on-base streak and six home run in 12 games, while first baseman Anthony Rizzo made contact for the sixth time in 11 games.
Milwaukee beat the Washington Nationals in three straight games 5-3, 6-0 and 7-3. They have passed the Cardinals for second in the NL Central as St. Louis was swept last weekend by the Cubs.

Christian Yelich has hit 16 home runs this season to go with a .356 batting average and 31 RBI’s. Gio Gonzalez will get the start Friday. Without managing a decision so far this year, Gonzalez has a 2.61 ERA with nine strikeouts.
Jose Quintana gets the start Friday for the Cubs. Quintana is sitting on a 4-1 record with 40 Ks to his name and a 3.40 ERA.
Brewers vs Cubs Probable Starting Pitchers
Gio Gonzalez | May 10 | Jose Quintana |
Zach Davies | May 11 | Cole Hamels |
Jhoulys Chacin | May 12 | Jon Lester |
After not picking the Cubs to beat the Cardinals last weekend, it’s hard bet against them again despite the odds. They are hot right now and should be able beat the Brewers who are 7-8 on the road this season.
Pick: Chicago Cubs +170
Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees Series Price
Team | Series Odds |
---|---|
Tampa Bay Rays | +125 |
New York Yankees | -145 |
Banged Up Yankees Have Chance to Battle Rays for First in AL East
New York’s injury troubles are well documented this season yet they have managed to hold in there and are within 1.5 games behind the Rays in the AL East.
JA Happ hasn’t done well at Yankee Stadium this season, where he is winless with a 7.65 ERA. Happ was better against the Mariners on Thursday and he isn’t to blame for New York’s losses.

The Rays have the best team ERA in the American League at 2.87 while the Yankees have the fourth most home runs with 55. They are third in team batting average and fourth in runs scored.

Tampa’s ace Blake Snell takes the hill on Saturday and it’s too bad we won’t see him and CC Sabathia go head to head. Sabathia reached the 3,000 strikeout total last week.
Rays vs Yankees Probable Starting Pitchers
Domingo German | May 10 | Tyler Glasnow |
CC Sabathia | May 11 | TBD |
Masahiro Tanaka | May 12 | Blake Snell |
With all the injuries the Yankees have they have managed to keep pace with the Rays in the AL East. If the Yankees were healthy, they’d walk away with this series no doubt. Pick them to beat the Rays this weekend.
Pick: New York Yankees (-145)
Seattle Mariners vs Boston Red Sox Series Price
Team | Series Odds |
---|---|
Seattle Mariners | -115 |
Boston Red Sox | -105 |
Mariners Have Cooled Significantly Since Hot Start
Seattle started the season 13-2 and looked to be the best in the AL West, but have fallen to 20-20, much more in line with season predictions. They sit second in the West now with The Astros ahead of them and the Texas Rangers, Angels and Athletics below them.

The Red Sox sit third in the AL East behind Tampa and New York with a 19-19 record. It’s not the start Red Sox fans would have wanted, but it’s early still and Boston Red Sox are only five games back.

Seattle has had some great hitting to start the season with Dee Gordon batting .304 and Edwin Encarnacion leading the team in home runs with 12 and an OBP of .384. Domingo Santana is tops on the team with 35 RBIs and 43 hits.

— Seattle Mariners (@Mariners) April 3, 2019
Boston’s JD Martinez leads the team in batting average at .309 and hits with 43. Mitch Moreland is tops in home runs with 10 and RBIs at 24. Mookie Betts has an OBP of .405
Mariners vs Red Sox Probable Starting Pitchers
Erik Swanson | May 10 | Eduardo Rodriguez |
Felix Hernandez | May 11 | Rick Porcello |
Marco Gonzales | May 12 | TBD |
Despite the slow start for Boston, they have picked it up in recent games and look to be rounding into form as the season progresses. It’s going to be hard to bet against the Red Sox as they face a Seattle team that is struggling. Bet the Red Sox to take this series this weekend.
Pick: Boston Red Sox (-105)
