Saturday afternoon brings an interleague matchup between the Miami Marlins (35-28, 14-15 away) and the Chicago White Sox (28-36, 16-15 home) at Guaranteed Rate Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:10pm ET.
We have a pair of decent arms on the mound, although their stats so far don’t exactly show it. Reigning NL Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara gets the ball for the Fish, while Michael Kopech counters for Chicago.
Marlins vs White Sox Odds
Team | Moneyline | Runline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Miami Marlins | -130 | -1.5 (+125) | Ov 8.5 (+100) |
Chicago White Sox | +110 | +1.5 (-145) | Un 8.5 (-120) |
The Marlins are favored at -130 moneyline odds here. The White Sox come back at +110. The total in runs is set at 8.5. This is only the fifth meeting between the two teams since the 2019 season.

Odds as of June 9th at DraftKings.
Miami vs Chicago Probable Pitchers
After winning the NL Cy Young last year, Alcantara has been a completely different pitcher this season. The righty is really struggling, compiling a 2-5 record and 5.07 ERA in 12 starts. He’s struck out 67 in 76.1 innings and walked 25. While command has been an issue at times, Alcantara is simply just getting hit around.

Last time out, he surrendered five earned runs to the lowly Oakland Athletics but did toss seven innings. Prior to that, Alcantara gave up four runs to the San Diego Padres. He’s never faced the White Sox before.
Alcantara vs Kopech Stats
2-5 | Record | 3-5 |
5.07 | ERA | 4.33 |
76.1 | Innings Pitched | 68.2 |
67 | Strikeouts | 79 |
25 | Walks | 32 |
While Kopech’s 4.33 ERA doesn’t exactly jump off the page, he’s pitching rather well lately. He’s struck out 79 in 68.2 innings overall and walked 32, but has only allowed six earned in his last four outings in total.
On June 4, he threw seven solid innings, giving up just two earned runs to the Detroit Tigers and walking just one. He also racked up nine strikeouts. This will be his first career appearance against the Marlins.
Miami is Hot
The Fish are having a great campaign, currently sitting in second place in the NL East with a 35-28 record. More importantly, they’re red hot at the moment. Miami is 8-2 in their last 10 contests and has won six in a row ahead of Friday’s tilt, sweeping both the Athletics and Royals.
This team doesn’t really shine in any particular category, but the clear bright spot is Luis Arraez. The former Minnesota Twin is currently hitting a mind-boggling .403 in 58 games. What a pickup.

White Sox in The Gutter
Going 6-4 in their last 10 isn’t bad, but it doesn’t hide the fact that Chicago is having a brutal year. The White Sox are 28-36 which puts them third in the AL Central. They’re bottom 10 in the Majors in runs, hits, average, ERA, and slugging. Needless to say, not much is going right.

On a more positive note, Chicago did just take two out of three from the New York Yankees, although Game 4 of the series was postponed due to weather. They will be hoping to muster up some offense off the struggling Alcantara Saturday.
Same-Game Parlay
What I’m looking at here is Marlins to win and under 8.5 runs total with +235 odds at DraftKings. Miami is in fantastic shape at the moment and neither of these teams score a ton, both averaging around four runs per game.
Marlins vs White Sox Picks
I know Alcantara is in shambles in recent weeks, but something tells me he’s due for a good start. He tends to pitch a bit better during the day as well with an ERA under five. Take that Marlins moneyline.
Pick: Marlins moneyline -130
