Dodgers vs Padres Probable Pitchers
Left-hander Julio Urias (4-3, 3.86) is expected to pitch for the Dodgers against Joe Musgrove (1-0, 10.80). Urias will be working on four days of rest and Musgrove on seven.
Urias vs Musgrove
4-3 | Record | 1-0 |
3.86 | ERA | 10.80 |
3.39 | xERA | 3.83 |
1.11 | WHIP | 1.68 |
5.63 | SO/W | 9.00 |
Urias was outstanding in his last start Tuesday, a win over the Philadelphia Phillies at home in which he surrendered only one run and one hit in seven innings with 10 strikeouts and one walk. That came on the heels of Urias losing his previous three starts with a 7.98 ERA.
The Padres have long had fits with Urias as he is 8-1 with a 2.32 against them lifetime in 17 games (12 starts).
Urias has a 1-2 mark and 7.20 ERA in three games on the road this season. The Dodgers are 4-3 when he pitches, and he has notched four quality starts.
At +500, Urias is the co-favorite in the NL Cy Young odds with the Atlanta Braves’ Spencer Strider.
Musgrove had a rough start his last time out when he gave up six runs and seven hits in 3.1 innings to the San Francisco Giants on April 29 in the thin air of Mexico City. Musgrove did not factor in the decision, though, as he walked three and struck out three.
Things got worse the next day.

This will be Musgrove’s first start of the season at Petco Park.

Urias got back on track in a big way earlier this week and is attractive at a good price against Musgrove, who has been erratic in two starts since beginning the season on the injured list with a broken toe.
