The Rockies
Colorado will be starting ace Tyler Anderson who has pitched well lately. Anderson has pitched eight scoreless innings in his past two starts, and for the season is 6-3 with a 3.90 ERA for the season. However the Diamondbacks may have his number as Anderson has a 6.67 ERA over two starts this year against the Diamondbacks.
The Rockies had their season high five-game win streak end Sunday against Seattle with a 6-4 lose. The Rockies will cruise into the All-star break with a six game home-stand. Sitting at a current home record of 18-22, look for the Rockies to reach the break with a home record of .500.
“We’ve been playing well for a couple of weeks, so we’ve got to continue.” – Rockies Manager Bud Black.
Rockies All-Star third baseman Nolan Arenado has been named to his fourth consecutive All-Star game and will look to lead the Rockies offensively. Arenado is batting .305 with 22 HR and 63 RBI for the year. Arenado will be accompanied by Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story at the All-Star game. Look for this three players to carry the Rockies against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks
Arizona ace and 2018 All-Star Patrick Corbin is taking the mound tonight. Corbin has a 0.95 ERA and 23 strikeouts in his last three starts. As you may recall, he beat the Rockies on Opening Day.
The Diamondback offense will be lead by All-Star first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. Goldschmidt is entering today’s game batting .281 with 20 home runs, and 51 RBI.
The Diamondback concluded a ten game home-stand going 3-7. The team will be looking to put a streak together on their six game road trip before the break. Coach Torey Lovullo believes his team can regroup and get back to their winning ways. “We’ve got to regroup the troops, head up to Colorado, and get ready for a tough series up there,” he has said.
