We have some more National League Central action on Thursday as the St. Louis Cardinals (22-28, 11-13 away) visit the Cincinnati Reds (20-28, 13-13) for the series finale at Great American Ballpark. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:35 PM ET.
On the mound, it’s the battle of two righties. Miles Mikolas goes for the Cards, while Luke Weaver takes the hill for Cincy.
Cardinals vs Reds Odds
Team | Moneyline | Runline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
St. Louis Cardinals | -170 | -1.5 (-115) | Ov 10.5 (-120) |
Cincinnati Reds | +145 | +1.5 (-105) | Un 10.5 (+100) |
The Cardinals sit at -170 but have gone just 13-16 as a moneyline favorite. The Reds come back at +145 and own a 13-23 record as an underdog. The total is quite steep at 10.5 runs, which isn’t too surprising considering both arms tend to give up their fair share of runs. The over was hit in the first two games of this series, though.

St. Louis vs Cincinnati Probable Pitchers
The Cards’ pitching staff has struggled this season but Mikolas is actually one of their more reliable arms. While his 4.77 ERA doesn’t exactly jump off the page, the right-hander is throwing the ball well as of late.

He hasn’t given up more than three runs in each of his last seven starts and even tossed seven solid frames on May 20th against a potent Dodgers lineup, surrendering just three earned on six hits. However, Mikolas owns an ERA well over five against the Reds. Not a great sign ahead of Thursday.
Mikolas vs Weaver Stats
2-1 | Record | 1-2 |
4.77 | ERA | 6.54 |
54.2 | Innings Pitched | 31.2 |
43 | Strikeouts | 31 |
14 | Walks | 8 |
Weaver is struggling immensely for Cincinnati, going 1-2 with a 6.54 ERA in six starts. He’s actually managed to rack up 31 strikeouts and walk just eight, but opposing lineups are simply just hitting him around.
The 29-year-old has allowed nine home runs and was chased after 4.1 innings on the weekend against the Yankees, giving up four earned on eight hits. This is his first-ever outing versus the Cardinals, the team Weaver came up to the big leagues with in 2016.
Cardinals Improving
After a horrid start to the campaign, it appears St. Louis is starting to figure it out. They’re 7-3 in the last 10 games prior to Wednesday’s contest and actually just took three out of four from the Dodgers. In fact, the Cards scored 32 runs in that four-game set.

Oli Marmol’s squad has one of the best MLB lineups around and sits top-five in numerous offensive categories. On the mound, St. Louis is starting to improve, too.
Another Rough Campaign For Cincy
The Reds are once again in the gutter of the NL Central and that doesn’t look like it’s going to change anytime soon. Their pitching staff owns a brutal 5.10 ERA and the bats aren’t much better.
Heading into Wednesday, Cincinnati has won just three of their previous 10 games. They will head on the road for a series against the Cubs and then Red Sox after St. Louis leaves town.

Same-Game Parlay
Pick | Odds |
---|---|
Cardinals Runline | -1.5 (-110) |
Nolan Arenado to get a hit | -360 |
Same-Game Parlay Odds | +120 |
Not too risky, right? That’s exactly why the odds are just +120 at DraftKings. But first, the Cardinals are playing well in recent weeks and Arenado is hitting .500 lifetime against Weaver with two homers (5 for 10). We could’ve gone with Arenado to hit a home run, but just simply going with a hit is a safer bet.
Cardinals vs Reds Prediction
Despite Mikolas having a rather poor ERA against the Reds, he finding his best over the last month. That’s why I’m taking the Cards to cover.
Pick: Cardinals runline -1.5 (-110)
