Ketel Marte and Christian Walker are playing well for the Diamondbacks. Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani are doing their thing for the Dodgers. Even though both starters tonight have ERAs under 3.00, there should be plenty of Independence Day fireworks.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs LA Dodgers Starting Pitchers

While Zac Gallen is the Diamondbacks’ ace, he’s also making only his second start since coming off the IL. He’s been his usual talented self when he’s been on the mound, so things won’t be easy for the Dodgers’ hitters tonight.

In his first start off the IL, Gallen worked 6 innings, allowing only 1 hit. Of course, you need to take that with a grain of salt, as that start came against the atrocious Oakland A’s. The Dodgers, with Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani in their lineup, along with Will Smith and others, will provide a much tougher test.

On the LA side, Knack has been a pleasant surprise. With basically an entire starting rotation on the IL, Knack has stepped up for his squad. The Dodgers have lost his last 2 starts, but it wasn’t because of Knack. Knack has provided 9.2 innings of work while allowing only 1 run. He’s struck out 9 batters in those starts.

Though Arizona doesn’t strike out much as a squad, Knack has some solid swing-and-miss stuff that should lend to a few K’s tonight.
