After Rory McIlroy won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the PGA Tour heads to Scottsdale, Arizona for the always rowdy party at the WM Phoenix Open. Fresh off a tie for ninth in his 2025 season debut, Scottie Scheffler is the heavy +300 favorite to claim the title. This is always a hotly contested tournament, with eleven straight editions either being claimed in a playoff, or resulting in a one or two stroke victory.

Justin Thomas is the second choice, despite not hoisting a trophy on the PGA Tour since the 2022 PGA Championship. Hideki Matsuyama not only won the 2025 Sentry TOC this season, but has been victorious at the WM Phoenix Open twice in his career, in 2016 and 2017. Sungjae Im and Sam Burns round out the top-five.

Sepp Straka Playing Solid Golf

Sepp Straka has had a fantastic start to 2025, with respectable showings of T-15 and T-30, followed by finishing off his third PGA Tour victory at the American Express. Then last weekend at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Austrian led entering the final round of the signature event, before winding up in a tie for seventh.

The betting books aren’t overly bullish on Straka continuing his strong play, so at +4000 at DraftKings, there’s tremendous value on a player with three titles in the last four seasons. In his last two tournaments, he’s second in total strokes gained, and seventh in ball striking, potentially pointing towards yet another title in his near future.

WM Phoenix Open 2025 Predictions, Picks and Value Bets

  1. Nick Taylor (+6000): Canadian Nick Taylor has won five times in his career, including this season at the Sony Open. He’s the defending champion, plus was the runner-up at this venue in 2023. Followed up his title in Hawaii with respectable T-12 and T-33 showings, making these odds enticing, given his recent success at this course.
  2. Rickie Fowler (+7000): Rickie Fowler hasn’t been outstanding to start 2025, but he ended last year with a fourth place result at the Zozo Championship, showing he’s perhaps rounding into form. He’s a past champ at this event, and also has had a pair of runner-ups. Just two years ago, he had a top-10 at the WM Phoenix Open.
  3. Lucas Glover (+8000): Though he doesn’t have the strongest track record around TPC Scottsdale, these are enticing odds, given that he was T-3rd just last weekend at Pebble Beach. That made it a trio of third place finishes for Glover in his last eight tourneys. He’s second in strokes gained: approach the last 24 rounds on tour.
