After Rory McIlroy won THE PLAYERS in a playoff on Monday morning, the PGA Tour heads to Palm Harbor, Florida, for the Valspar Championship. Considering a big tournament was just contested, it’s a pretty strong field competing at the Copperhead Course, featuring Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Tommy Fleetwood in the top-ten of the world rankings. The closing stretch is tabbed as the “snake pit” with a very difficult final three holes awaiting the world’s best.

Sam Burns Formidable At Valspar

Sam Burns has made the Valspar Championship his personal playground in recent years, claiming the title in 2021 and then again in 2022, then placing sixth in 2023. In the last twelve rounds at this venue, the five-time PGA Tour winner ranks first in total strokes gained, fourth in approach, fifth in putting and sixth tee-to-green.

The 2020 edition of the Valspar Championship was cancelled due to COVID-19.

Burns has been solid, if unspectacular in 2025, with three top-25s in the seven times he’s teed it up. Given that his +2200 odds to win outright are longer than the top-three players on the board, I’m comfortable wagering on him, particularly with his strong track record at this event.

Valspar Championship 2025 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Lucas Glover +4500: Lucas Glover is coming off a very promising Players Championship at Sawgrass (T-3rd), where he gained nearly eight strokes against the field on the greens, tying the second best output of his career. He’s a ball striking savant, so he’s extremely dangerous if he’s even luke warm with the flatstick. Glover has been solid at Innisbrook in his career, with seven top-25s.
  2. Cameron Young +5500: I’m prepared to get my heart broken with Cameron Young yet again, but it’s hard to ignore him at these odds, considering he was runner-up at this tourney last year. It’s absolutely wild he’s still never won on the PGA Tour, despite seven second-place finishes, the most of anyone who hasn’t had a victory on the main circuit since 1983.
  3. Adam Hadwin +11000: Adam Hadwin will be a very intriguing pick in the top 5/10/20 markets. He’s won this tournament in 2017, and posted a tie for fifth last year and a T-7th in 2022, ranking fourth in total strokes gained the last 24 rounds at this track.
