The most talked about golf event since Tiger vs. Phil will finally commence October 9th as Barstool Sports personalities Ryan Whitney from the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast will duel Riggs from the ForePlay Podcast. This heated match was originally going to be contested last year but it was put off to the fall of 2019.
Online sportsbooks have set a line on who will win the much discussed match, and if they’re correct, Riggs won’t be headed home with a ton of bragging rights as Whitney is the heavy favorite to come out on top.
Odds to Win 2019 Riggs vs Whitney Golf Match Play
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Ryan Whitney | -600 |
Riggs | +350 |
Odds taken 09/25/19.
$10K Match to Be Played at Beautiful Course
There’s no way a hotly contested match between such fierce rivals would ever be played on a bad track (though that would make it more entertaining!), so they’ve decided to play at the beautiful GreatHorse Golf Course in Massachusetts.
Look at this place! Imagine the boys battling it out here for $10k of the other guy’s money, on live stream, in front of hundreds of screaming Stoolies. @GreatHorseClub is excellent. pic.twitter.com/TCPFpAldyB

While some details have yet to be finalized, you can be sure Whitney will be giving up some strokes to Riggs in order to make the match more competitive, with the former NHL blueliner spotting Riggs three shots.
Oct 9th, Greathorse, match play, me vs @ryanwhitney6, putting up $10k each, I get 3 strokes, will be covered in real time on social by Dave & Big Cat much like the mulligan challenge. https://t.co/E4EBoC5hoh

Which Golfer Most Looks the Part of a Champion?
With golf, it’s not just the clubs that do the talking – you have to dish out your best trash talk and also sport slick attire if you’re going to come out a champion, so it’s important to note who might have the edge before the match tees off in two weeks.
Sick pic of me tho https://t.co/5ja2F6kAds

Riggs looks to have Whitney beat here, so maybe you should reconsider the obvious bet on Whitney and place some dough on Riggs. Also of note, as of this posting Whitney hasn’t been posting on social media about the match whereas Riggs has.
Is Whitney shook? Or is he just on the range ironing out some kinks in his swing, or enjoying a fresh Pink Whitney vodka on ice while planning his demolition of Riggs?
I prefer Riggs to Bozo wow I must be so self conscious. I’m going to take $10k off Whitney next month (who plays competitive golf every week and sees multiple swing coaches and still can’t get down to scratch) and it’s going to be spectacular. Might even buy some new hair with it https://t.co/xk96yTN7lg

Whitney vs Riggs Betting Advice
Whitney has had many years to perfect his craft, given that he made the playoffs in just three of his nine NHL seasons, so he’s had lots of time to hit the course.
However, there’s a very concerning nugget for Riggs fans that came straight from the horses mouth – or fingers as it were.
I believe we both shot 78 at Spyglass. Yet the last time we played the same course (@ErinHillsGolf about a week apart) Whit beat me by maybe 30 strokes. Therein lies the adventures of a shitty golfer https://t.co/1APZ9T4WLi

Doesn’t that pretty well sound like a guy trying to get ahead of the story and come up with excuses as to why he won’t emerge victorious? Seems like he doesn’t fully believe he can take down Whitney.
The pick should be pretty clear. Bet Whitney with confidence.
Pick: Ryan Whitney Wins (-600)
