Following Rory McIlroy’s historic victory to win the career grand slam at the Masters Tournament, golf’s best head to Hilton Head, South Carolina for the RBC Heritage. It’s a signature event on the PGA Tour calendar, with most everyone competing. One notable absence is that of McIlroy, who won’t tee it up as he celebrates becoming just the sixth man ever to complete the career grand slam. Last year, Scottie Scheffler won this event, and he’s back to defend his title as the heavy favorite.

It’s no surprise that Scottie Scheffler is the +350 favorite, given that he’s the defending champ and the #1 player in the world. However, he has yet to taste victory in seven 2025 starts. Xander Schauffele, who won two majors in 2024, has the second shortest odds at +1000. Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg and Justin Thomas round out the top-five choices.

Patrick Cantlay Due For RBC Heritage Title

It’s very surprising that Patrick Cantlay hasn’t lifted a trophy on the PGA Tour in nearly three years, but if he were ever to get back in the winner’s circle, this is where it could happen. He has put together an absolutely amazing resume at this tournament, despite never going the distance at Harbour Town. In his seven career attempts, Cantlay has racked up one runner-up (playoff loss to Jordan Spieth in 2022), four times he’s been third place, and also has a tie for seventh (with one missed cut).

Past Five RBC Heritage Winners

YearWinner
2024Scottie Scheffler
2023Matt Fitzpatrick
2022Jordan Spieth
2021Stewart Cink
2020Webb Simpson

Remarkably, in his last 26 rounds at this championship, he’s first in total strokes gained, tee-to-green, ball striking and approach. He’s also seven in SG: around-the-green and eleventh in putting. Suffice to say, he’s incredibly due to not only win for the first time in three years, but win here. At +1900, he sports odds longer than the top-five players on the board, so you can snag him at solid value.

RBC Heritage 2025 Picks & Value Bets

  1. Jordan Spieth +4000: Jordan Spieth is coming off a top-15 at the Masters, which was the second straight week he achieved that feat. Earlier in the campaign he also had a pair of top-10s, so he’s close to popping. This is a tremendous stop for him to so, as he won here in a playoff in 2022, and then was runner-up in yet another playoff in 2023 to Matt Fitzpatrick.
  2. J.T. Poston +7500: Three-time PGA Tour champion J.T. Poston has been marvelous around this course, picking up four top-8 showings in his last six attempts. The last 20 rounds at the RBC Heritage, Poston ranks second in total strokes gained (behind only Patrick Cantlay).
  3. Sahith Theegala +10000: Sahith Theegala was the runner-up to Scottie Scheffler at this tournament in 2024, and the year previously, he posted a tie for fifth at this event. He comes in off a top-30 at the Masters, but sees his odds drifting out to this number because of the quality of field, and that his game hasn’t been firing on all cylinders of late. For a player with his track record around Hilton Head, it’s worth the dart throw.
  4. Cam Davis +25000: Admittedly Cam Davis has been struggling with his game, coming into Harbour Town missing five straight cuts. These odds are ludicrously long for a player that plays well at this venue, as the Aussie had back-to-back top-10s at the the RBC Heritage in 2022 and 2023. Given that he’s not been quite as sharp, he’s more likely better suited to someone to wager on in the top 10/20 markets.
