High winds wreaked havoc on Riviera Country Club Saturday causing a near four hour delay before the leaders could even tee off. When play did resume, the final group was able to get through 13 holes before darkness halted action, forcing them to complete the final five holes Sunday.
Sam Burns, the 36-hole leader bogeyed his last two holes to see his big lead shrink to just two strokes over Matthew Fitzpatrick and three over a trio of players, including 2017 champion Dustin Johnson.
When play resumes Sunday morning, DJ, who was the heavy odds-on favorite pre-tournament will be faced with a tricky putt to save par to remain within three of the lead.
Read on to see the updated odds and the best bets for Sunday’s final round at the Genesis Invitational.

Sam Burns Searching For First Title
Sam Burns was on cruise control before his final two holes Saturday as he enjoyed a five-shot edge. Two bogeys later coupled with a birdie by Matthew Fitzpatrick and suddenly he clings to a perilous two-stroke lead.

He’s flirted with breaking through on the PGA Tour, holding the 54-hole lead this season at the Houston Open before stumbling on the last day. That follows a troubling trend in the 24-year-old’s young career. He’s 144th in final round scoring on the campaign, where he’s had five of his seven rounds in the 70’s.
To this point, Burns hasn’t shown he can be trusted to close out a victory, so his +300 odds aren’t enticing enough.
Dustin Johnson Seeks Second Genesis Invitational Triumph
Coming into the tournament having won four of his last eight worldwide starts, Dustin Johnson finds himself with a tremendous opportunity to secure his 25th tour title. The World #1 has won on this track in 2017 and was second twice in 2014 and 2015.

Of the top-five players on the board, DJ has 24 wins, and the other four of Burns, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Max Homa and Wyndham Clark have combined for just a single win (Homa, 2019 Wells Fargo).
Johnson, who ranks first in strokes gained tee-to-green and scrambling this week, might drop four behind as he faced with a 17-foot par putt on the 14th hole Sunday, but at +430 odds, it’s hard to trust anyone more.

Best Live Value Picks for Genesis Invitational
- Patrick Cantlay (+700): The California native loves playing in his home state, with a victory, a runner-up, and a T-3 in his last three events. Cantlay has proven to be deadly on Sundays, as his three PGA Tour titles saw him shoot rounds of 67, 64, 65. Third in SG off the tee, fourth tee-to-green and T-2nd in scrambling this event.
- Jordan Spieth (+4100): Though he hit just four of 15 greens Saturday, the three-time major champ lurks. Held at least a share of the lead after 54 holes in back-to-back weeks heading into the Genesis. Fifth in putting through three days.
