The European and PGA Tour’s are splitting stellar fields this week, with four of the top ten in the world rankings competing at the Saudi International – including Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Tyrrell Hatton and Patrick Reed. Reed heads to Saudi Arabia fresh off his controversial win at the Farmers Insurance Open.
This is just the third iteration of this tournament, as DJ won the inaugural event in 2019 and then finished runner-up last year to Graeme McDowell. Unsurprisingly, Johnson headlines the field and is a heavy favorite to earn his second Saudi International title.
Paul Casey, who won last week’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic for his 15th career European Tour win, is competing this week looking to go back-to-back in a field that has a lot of depth.

Dustin Johnson Has Owned This Event
In the two years that this tournament has been contested, the world number one has won it, and also been a runner-up to Graeme McDowell in defense of his title last year. He also comes into the event with stellar form, posting nine straight top-12 finishes, including three victories.
He enters this week as the massive +500 favorite, which would normally be a number too scary to wager on with such little value. However, this is DJ we’re talking about, who constantly is in contention and has dominated at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club.

If there’s a reason to suggest he shouldn’t be selected, it’s that in his first event of 2021 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, he lost over two strokes to the field on the greens, his first tournament in his last eight that he failed to gain strokes in that category.
The other slight pushback would be this being a deeper field at the Saudi International compared to the first two iterations, but that still shouldn’t be enough to deter anyone who loves Johnson.
Saudi International Best Value Picks
- Tommy Fleetwood (+2200): A player of Fleetwood’s caliber is always intriguing at this price. Comes off very solid T-7 and T-17 finishes in his first two tournaments of 2021 in the desert. Hasn’t missed a cut in his last nine outings, with six top-20 results in that span. Fifth in birdies per round on the campaign.
- Kevin Na (+5500): Kevin Na finds himself with long odds despite winning two starts ago at the Sony Open, his fourth PGA Tour title in his last 55 starts. Na is a great all-or-nothing golfer to bet on because if he’s in contention, he’s shown the ability to get it done in crunch time, despite just one top-10 in his last 13 starts.
- Brandon Stone (+8000): Though he hasn’t had a great track record around this event, with missed cuts in both attempts, he’s a good deep dive this week given his recent form. Just last week, was a runner-up to Paul Casey at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. In his last ten events, Stone has posted top-25 finishes in seven of them.
