After not collecting a victory since the 2017 Open Championship amidst a downturn in his game, it appears Jordan Spieth is back to being a world class golfer, as he co-led after 54 holes at last week’s Phoenix Open and now leads by two after 54 holes at Pebble Beach.

Coming into the week, five of the top six players with the shortest odds to emerge victorious happen to be within three shots of each other, as 2017 champ Spieth entered with +2300 odds to win outright.

Saturday’s conditions were much more challenging but with a fantastic forecast in store for Sunday, fireworks could occur at famed Pebble Beach with most of the big names competing this week eyeing the trophy. Spieth Out To Avenge Last Week’s Loss

In just two short weeks Jordan Spieth has gone from totally lost with his game to seemingly back in the driver’s seat to start winning championships again. Saturday at Pebble Beach, Spieth was leaking a lot of oil on the back nine with three bogeys from holes 10-14 before everything changed with an incredible shot on 16.

That eagle propelled him into a share of the lead, and after Daniel Berger hit one out of bounds on 18 en route to a double bogey, the three-time major champion owned a shot two shot edge on the field. Aside from that exquisite hole out on 16, Spieth didn’t exactly dominate approaching the greens on moving day, so it’s far from a certainty he’ll walk away with the title.

In his career, he’s 9-for-17 in converting 54 hole leads into victories, and while it would be foolish to suggest he won’t get it done Sunday, with so many golfers stalking him within earshot, his +200 odds aren’t super enticing.

1. Jason Day (+1100): Beginning the final round three shots back, Day seems destined to finally get over the hump at Pebble. We were high on him this week because his last six results at this tournament were as follows – 4th, T-4, T-2, T-5, T-11, T-4. One bogey in two rounds at Pebble Beach (second round was at Spyglass Hill). Fifth in scrambling and ninth in putting through three days.
2. Paul Casey (+1400): The runner-up at this event two years ago, Casey has been playing some inspired golf, having won the European Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic two starts ago. Like Day, three behind entering Sunday. Just one score worse than par in all three rounds this week.
3. Kevin Streelman (+10000): Last year’s runner up is no stranger to going low on Sunday to achieve victory, having shot 67 and 64 for his two triumphs, including setting a record with seven straight birdies to finish off the final round to steal the 2014 Travelers Championship. First in ball striking and total strokes gained in last twelve rounds at Pebble Beach which he’ll need since he’s five back, sporting such long odds.
