The long wait for the Masters is finally over after the 84th edition of the event was moved from its traditional April slot to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tiger Woods returns as defending champion, attempting to join Jack Nicklaus as the only six-time Masters champions.
Bryson DeChambeau is the +800 betting favorite to begin tournament week, as he’s seen his odds shorten down from +3300 early in the year. Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, has an opportunity to become just the sixth male golfer to win the career grand slam.
Read on to see what the odds are for the big names to slip into a green jacket and some of the players that are sporting good value to wager on.

Dustin Johnson Coming In Hot
Johnson has been unstoppable in his last six tournaments, racking up two wins, three second place results and a T-6 at the US Open. He’s been so dominant that DJ has gained a staggering 80 shots on the field in those events.

After not playing for six weeks and having to withdraw from two tournaments due to a positive COVID-19 test, Johnson displayed no signs of rust at the Houston Open finishing T-2 this past weekend. He was a ball striking machine, leading the field in SG: off-the-tee and second in tee-to-green.
The #1 ranked player in the world has figured out Augusta National, after failing to record a top ten in his five first trips down Magnolia Lane.
He was T-2 last year – his fourth straight top ten at the Masters. In his last six major championships, he’s been so close to winning career major #2, posting three runner-up finishes as well.
If you're looking for players with a little momentum heading into Masters week… Hideki Matsuyama, Francesco Molinari, Dustin Johnson, Corey Conners and Tyrrell Hatton each ranked in the top-10 in strokes gained tee-to-green in today's final round in Houston.

While DJ constantly falling just short in the biggest events can be extremely frustrating, of all the big names, you can pretty much guarantee he’ll be in the thick of things come Sunday. At +900 odds, he most definitely is someone you need to be looking at.
Can Tiger Recapture Magic at Augusta?
Though it would be absolutely spectacular to see defending champion Tiger Woods atop the Masters leaderboard again, based on the state of his game in 2020, it would seem like a pipe dream.
However, this is Tiger freaking Woods we’re talking about, and he’s won five times on this track. Looking at these results gives great pause, however.
Tiger Woods 2020 PGA Tour Season Results
Tournament | Result |
---|---|
ZOZO Championship | T-72nd |
US Open | CUT |
BMW Championship | T-51st |
The Northern Trust | T-58th |
PGA Championship | T-37th |
The Memorial Tournament | T-40th |
The Genesis Invitational | 68th |
Farmers Insurance Open | T-9th |
Based on the way he’s been playing, his +3600 number should realistically probably be double that, but there’s no way odds would be that high.
He’s lost shots to the field in each of his last four events, culminating in a dreadful ten strokes lost to his contemporaries at the ZOZO Championship. While he certainly could summon up another legendary tale at Augusta National, you likely can’t bank on it.
Last Five Masters Champions
Year | Winner |
---|---|
2019 | Tiger Woods (-13) |
2018 | Patrick Reed (-15) |
2017 | Sergio Garcia (-9) [Playoff] |
2016 | Danny Willett (-5) |
2015 | Jordan Spieth (-18) |
Masters Tournament Best Value Picks
- Matthew Wolff (+3500): Though no Masters rookie has won since Fuzzy Zoeller accomplished the feat in 1979, Wolff has been dynamite in the two majors this year, finishing T-4th at the PGA Championship and then was runner-up at the US Open. Gained over 14 shots on the field tee-to-green at the PGA and nearly 14 at the US Open. Has two other second place finishes this year at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and Rocket Mortgage Classic.
- Justin Rose (+6000): Rose has posted five career top ten’s at the Masters, with a pair of runner-ups, most notably when he lost a playoff to Sergio Garcia in 2017. Almost always plays well at Augusta, with 2019 being the first time he missed the cut in 14 tries. Despite not firing on all cylinders currently, juicy odds for a player who’s comfortable on this track. Finished ninth at the PGA Championship earlier in the year.
- Francesco Molinari (+9000): Last year Molinari looked well on his way to winning his second major in his last three starts, before stumbling on the second nine which paved the way for Tiger Woods. Long shot with potential big upside, considering how well he played just last year at Augusta, where he eventually was T-5th. Has only played twice the tour stoppage but just this last weekend had a solid T-15 showing at the Houston Open.
