Novak Djokovic started well his seek for the only Grand Slam missing on his trophy shelf, Roland Garros.  He beat David Goffin in three sets, in the first round, and will take on the Argentinian Guido Pella.

Despite ‘Nole’ was able to advance by just playing three sets, there all were contested by the Belgian 7-6(5) 6-4 7-5. Goffin is known from giving Roger Federer a tremendous headache in the third round before eventually losing.

“Thanks to all the fans for waiting. It was a good match; David is a good player and has a lot of talent,” said Djokovic. “I’m happy to win and hope to continue like this.”

“This is the tournament that is the No. 1 priority of my year, of my season,” the just-turned-26-year-old Serb said before the tournament. “This is where I want to win, and I’m going to go for it.”

“That was important for my confidence level,” Djokovic concluded. “I won against the best player on this surface. That win against him can give me that necessary mental belief, self-belief prior to this tournament.”

Guido Pella beat Croatian Ivan Dodig 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 2-6, 12-10, but he needs to elevate his game if he wants to perform some kind of a miracle against Novak.

The French Open betting odds for this game hasn’t been dropped yet, but the Serbian will be a huge favorite in this one. In fact, I would take him in three, not matter what odds are giving.
