After inexplicably tying against Finland on Friday, the Spain national team needs to win as they visit France at Stade de France this Tuesday at 4 PM ET.

Spain draw at home 1-1 against Finland, and now they are second in the group behind France in the World Cup qualifiers.  The Spanish need a win to get back to the top or they will be forced to step into a playoffs match to get to Brazil 2014.

“Against Finland we let two points slip because we were thinking about France. We made isolated mistakes in both games, and those mistakes cost us four points. There are certain moves which might be better done, and we can work on them. We have to learn from our mistakes and approach the coming game without making any more”, Santi Cazorla admitted.

France beat Georgia on Friday 3-1 and anything but a loss, will be a positive result for them.

“The most important thing tonight was to win, but Spain’s draw is another thing. We have done what we have to do up to now, let’s see what happens on Tuesday”, France coach Didier Deschamps said.

“It bothers me a lot that they scored. We were very soft in defense”, he added.

The last time France beat Spain was in the round of 16 of the 2006 World Cup; France ended going to the final of the tournament but lost to Italy in penalties. Spain has won three of the last four meetings against the French, with the other one ending in a draw.
