The League of Legends 2020 World Championship has already wrapped up the group stage with eight teams earning their spots in the quarterfinals.
Prior to the tournament, the LoL World Championship odds had Top Esports and DAMWON Gaming as huge favorites and after the group stage and that’s still the case. Top Esports and DAMWON were hands down the strongest looking teams as they both went 5-1 in their groups.
There weren’t any truly shocking results in the group stage. North America was unable to get a single team through to the quarterfinals as they went a combined 6-12. Korea and China both had three of their teams qualify while G2 and Fnatic got through for Europe.

JD Gaming | +1100 |
Suning | +1800 |

DragonX | +2500 |
Fnatic | +6000 |

The Big Two
Top Esports and DAMWON Gaming were heavily favored before Worlds started and after the group stage that hasn’t changed at all. For Top Esports, they ran over their group with a 5-1 record. That one loss was a shocker as they were dismantled by North American squad Flyquest.
Clearly, the oddsmakers aren’t very concerned and you honestly shouldn’t be either. In the quarterfinals their first matchup is against Fnatic and barring a giant upset, Top Esports should be well on their way to the semis. With a win over Fnatic, Top would then draw either Suning or JD Gaming whom they’ve already beaten in the LPL.

As for DAMWON, they were equally as dominant over their group. Much like Top, DAMWON finished 5-1 with their only loss coming against the second seed out of China, JD Gaming. For the most part, DAMWON wasn’t truly tested but that will change in the quarterfinals.
Their first opponent is DragonX who finished second in Group D behind Top Esports. Although DragonX are the second seed out of Korea, they were obliterated by DAMWON in the LCK Summer Finals. DAMWON won that series 3-0 and they’re poised for a deep playoff run.
Dark Horses
With the odds so heavily favoring Top Esports and DAMWON, there are some solid picks further down that present some good value. JD Gaming might have been the most disappointing team in the group stage based on their lack of dominance, but at the listed odds they’re a fairly good bet. The biggest test in their way is Top Esports who they lost to 3-2 in the LPL Summer finals.

Gen.G is also flying under the radar despite going 5-1 in their group. They’d have to eventually beat DAMWON so it’s probably not worth it at the given value. As far as Europe, G2 has the best value, and they have a decent shot of winning their opening match. It’d be quite a run, but G2 does turn it up in the best of 5’s.
Best Bet: DAMWON (+137)
Odds to Reach the Finals
Team | Odds |
---|---|
DAMWON Gaming | -350 |
Top Esports | -250 |
JD Gaming | +400 |
Suning | +700 |
Gen.G | +750 |
G2 Esports | +750 |
DragonX | +900 |
Fnatic | +1800 |
With Top Esports and DAMWON being on opposite sides of the bracket, obviously, they’re both favored to make the finals. Outside of those two teams, it’s not outside of the realm of possibility for JD Gaming to pull off an upset over Top Esports.
The third seed out of China is much more of a risk as they haven’t shown the ability to take down Top. In the LPL playoffs, Suning lost three straight games to the eventual LPL champions.

We’d love to take a chance on the top European team, G2 Esports, but they’d have to beat two very tough Korean teams standing in their way. They were in the finals last year, and they got there with shocking wins over two Korean teams – DAMWON and SK Telecom.
Best Bets: JD Gaming (+400) and DAMWON (-350)
Longshot Bet: G2 Esports (+750)
Odds to Win 2020 World Championship Finals MVP
Player | Odds |
---|---|
JackeyLove (TES) | +350 |
Nuguri (DWG) | +350 |
Knight (TES) | +400 |
Showmaker (DWG) | +400 |
Canyon (DWG) | +1100 |
Karsa (TES) | +1300 |
Zoom (JDG) | +2000 |
Bdd (GEN) | +2000 |
369 (TES) | +2200 |
Kanavi (JDG) | +2500 |
Ruler (GEN) | +2500 |
BeryL (DWG) | +3000 |
Since I’ve got DAMWON winning it all, Showmaker and Canyon provide a good amount of value despite DAMWON’s position as a favorite. Their top laner, Nuguri, has the highest odds of winning MVP, but I’d put my money on their mid laner or jungler who have more chances to make plays across the map.

Outside of DAMWON, Knight and Karsa of Top Esports present great value. The jungle meta is currently filled with playmakers and damage dealers so outside of Showmaker and Canyon, I’d take a look at Karsa at his current odds.
Best Bet: Canyon (+1100)
