- MDL Macau takes place February 20th.
- Is EHOME a serious contender?
- Which two teams will be the last standing come championship Sunday?
In just a few more hours, MDL Macau will kickoff, featuring some of the best teams in the Dota2 scene. Virtus.Pro head into the event as the favorite, but there has been a pretty significant change in the odds since we first looked at them.
EHOME have jumped all the way up to the third spot in the odds after coming into the event originally in the sixth spot.
Why the jump? Are they seriously worth looking at to win in Macau? Let’s first take a look at the updated odds table.
Odds to Win MDL Macau 2019
Teams | Odds |
---|---|
Virtus.Pro | +150 |
Liquid | +175 |
EHOME | +500 |
Evil Geniuses | +800 |
ViCi Gaming | +1600 |
Royal Never Give Up | +3000 |
Invictus Gaming | +4000 |
*All odds taken 2/19
EHOME a Serious Threat to Take the Title in Macau?
EHOME head into MDL Macau with some momentum behind them after winning the Bucharest Minor and managing to qualify for DreamLeague Season 11. The Chinese squad came into Macau originally at +1600 and are now listed at +500 to take it all.
Part of the reason in the jump may be due to PSG.LGD withdrawing due to a health issue with one of their players, but their play as of late also is a main component as to why they’ve made the jump in the table.
They have looked solid over the past month, with wins coming over Gambit, Fnatic, and PSG. Though they are now listed as the third favorite to win, I’m not sold they can take it over Virtus.Pro.

I still see VP as the ones that come out on top in Macau regardless of the jump in the table to EHOME. The CIS squad is just so powerful, and I think it’s too big of a task for any of the teams to topple the titans in Macau.
Pick: Virtus.Pro (+150)
Odds to Reach the Final at MDL Macau 2019
Teams | Odds |
---|---|
Virtus.Pro | -400 |
Liquid | -250 |
EHOME | +225 |
Evil Geniuses | +350 |
ViCi Gaming | +750 |
Royal Never Give Up | +1600 |
Invictus Gaming | +2000 |
Who Will Join VP in the Finals?
Since Virtus.Pro is more or less a lock to make the finals in Macau, it’s time to look at what team may find themselves alongside them come Sunday.
Liquid come into the event with the second-best odds to make the finals, followed by EHOME, and Evil Geniuses. I don’t see any other teams making the finals aside from the three mentioned.

In my previous article I said that Evil Geniuses more than likely will be the team to faceoff against VP in the finals, and I stand by that regardless of the fact they will be playing with a stand-in.
The North American side have been consistently performing alongside the best in the game, with back-to-back third place finishes at the last two Majors.
With the value of EG increasing since the first article, they would definitely be the team that I would bank on to be one of the last two standing at MDL Macau.
Picks: Virtus.Pro (-400) / Evil Geniuses (+350)
