- Can RNG make it three LPL titles in a row?
- Is there a new team to look out for in the Chinese region?
- Will Invictus Gaming continue their dominance?
One of the most dominant regions in League of Legends is set to begin their regular season January 14th, with the LPL Spring Split. The Chinese region always puts out some of the top teams in the world, including winners of MSI 2018, Royal Never Give Up, as well as the 2018 World Championship winners, Invictus Gaming.
With some teams making significant changes to their roster, this should lead to a shake up in the LPL where we may just see a new team emerge as the newest powerhouse from the Chinese region. So let’s first start by taking a look at what teams should be expected to reach the playoffs.

Who Will Round Out The Top 8?
With the top 6 teams with such short odds to make playoffs, and rightfully so, it really is a battle for the last two spots in the LPL Spring Split Playoffs.
JD Gaming is a team that I would look at to claim one of the last two spots in the playoffs at +125. They were able to place third in the 2018 LPL Summer Split, and also managed to qualify for playoffs in the 2018 LPL Spring Split.
Although they have gone through a roster change, losing both their Jungler, Clid, as well as their ADC, LokeN, they were able to replace the Korean duo with a new Korean duo, with Flawless and imp.

The former World Champion, imp, should bring a lot of firepower and leadership to the team, as he was able to get it done on the biggest of stages back in 2014. Look for JD Gaming to be one of the final 8 teams standing in the LPL Spring Split.
The last team I expect to make playoffs would be Bilibili Gaming. After making significant changes in the offseason picking up ADD, Kuro, and Kine, they look like they could be a threat in the LPL Spring Split.

ADD should be able to provide some well needed experience for Bilibili, as he has competed in the LCK for the past few years, managing to get some pretty solid placings during his tenure.
The Chinese/Korean mix team will look to get back to the playoffs after missing them in the 2018 Summer Split, placing 11-12th. Look for Bilibili to have strong showing, and make their way into playoffs in the 2019 LPL Spring Split.
Picks: Invictus Gaming (-50000), Royal Never Give Up (-10000), Topsports Gaming (-10000), Suning Gaming (-2000), EDward Gaming (-300), FunPlus Phoenix (-300), JD Gaming (+125), and Bilibili Gaming ( +180)

Will We See a Summer Final Grudge Match?
In 2018, Invictus Gaming was a powerhouse during the regular season, where they eventually ended up choking in playoffs or finals. Finishing with an 18-1 record in both Spring and Summer Splits, they only managed to place 4th and 2nd respectively.
Historically, RNG has Invictus’ number when it comes to the biggest matches in the LPL, notably beating them in the five game epic during the finals of the LPL Summer Split.
Historically, RNG has Invictus’ number when it comes to the biggest matches in the LPL, notably beating them in the five game epic during the finals of the LPL Summer Split. Lead by the greatest ADC of all-time, Uzi, they look to make the finals of in their 7th straight LPL Split, and it’s hard to imagine they don’t.

Though it seems like a rematch of the 2018 Summer Finals is bound to happen, there are a few other teams that can spoil the party.
One such team is Topsports Gaming. They managed to make the finals of the Winter 2018 Demacia Cup, where they fell to Invictus Gaming 3-1 in a best-of-five Grand Final.
Beating RNG in playoffs, and Invictus Gaming in Winners Finals, they proved that they are capable of not only hanging with the best, but beating the best. Look for Topsports Gaming to possibly spoil the party and make it to the finals of the LPL Spring Split.
Another team to look at to make the finals is Suning Gaming. After adding Maple and SwordArt from Flash Wolves, the Chinese/Taiwanese squad looks like they have the pieces in place to finally challenge the top teams in the LPL.
After a good showing in the Demacia Cup, they may just be a wildcard pick in the LPL Spring Split to make the finals.
Pick: Royal Never Give Up (+185), and Topsports Gaming (+225)Â

Can Royal Never Give Up Make it Three in a Row?
The perennial kingpins of the Chinese region RNG, swept the LPL last season winning both Spring and Summer Splits. They have managed to at least come second in every split of the LPL dating back to the Spring of 2016.
It’s very hard to bet against a team like RNG domestically, as they have always proven that they can compete with the best in China, it’s on their international stage where they usually falter.

The competition in the LPL will be at an all-time high this year, and the pressure will be on RNG to continue their streak of consecutive titles in the Chinese region.
Even if they don’t have the best split, expect them to become a different team come playoff time, as it seems they always do. They thrive under pressure in the LPL, and have managed to come out on top when it matters most time and time again. Expect that to be the case yet again in the 2019 LPL Spring Split.
Pick: Royal Never Give Up (+500)
