Prior to the Super Bowl, several NFL pros are competing in the Fortnite Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl. 16 teams of a streamer and an NFL pro, will compete in Miami, Florida on January 30, for 500k US to a charity of their choosing. The streamers selected their teammates through a draft system, and Unknownxarmy selected Avonte Maddox with the first overall pick.

The World Cup Winner
The big-name duo in this tournament is one of the favorites, Bugha & Juju Smith-Schuster. Bugha exploded into the Fortnite world when he won the 2019 Fortnite World Cup and took home $3 million dollars. Bugha had the second overall pick in the draft and selected Juju Smith-Schuster. Juju has been one of the biggest sports figures to adopt gaming and was even a part of Faze Clan for a while. He’s the most well-known Fortnite player in the NFL community, and that alone should translate into Streamer Bowl success.

Sleeper Picks
One of the sleeper teams is NICKMERCS and Mike Evans. The two are legitimate friends and have played together on NICKMERCS’ stream on multiple occasions. The chemistry will be there but Mike Evans is probably lacking the Fortnite prowess of some of his fellow NFL pros.

Kyler Murray is one other NFL pro to keep an eye on. He apparently tries to sneak in two hours a day of Fortnite to keep his gameplay fresh. At +1400, he might be a good value considering he’s paired up with Tfue.
Pick: Tfue and Kyler Murray (+1400)
Odds of Winning Verizon 5G MVP Award
To Win MVP | Odds |
---|---|
Streamer | -250 |
NFL Pro | +185 |
If all things are considered equal, the MVP award should 100% go to a streamer. Although some of these NFL pros have respectable Fortnite skills, their abilities are nothing compared to the streamers who play this game for eight-plus hours a day. The only way an NFL pro wins MVP is if they’re given the award because they massively outperformed the other NFL players. If it comes down to who carried the team the most, it’ll definitely be given to a streamer.
Pick: Streamer (-250)
Odds for More Views Than 2019 World Cup
Result | Odds |
---|---|
Yes | -120 |
No | -120 |
Although I expect the Streamer Bowl to get big numbers on Twitch and YouTube, it’s very unlikely that it exceeds that of the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. The World Cup was a record-breaking event in esports. Not only was it the first World Cup in the history of Fortnite but it also had a historic prize pool. The build-up to the World Cup spanned nearly a year, and it picked up a lot of hype in the process.

Fortnite isn’t quite as big as it was back when the World Cup happened either. The viewership will rely on the combined audiences of all these popular streamers. The event should easily get over one million, but I’d be shocked if it surpassed the 2.3 million viewer peak of the World Cup.
Pick: No (-120)
Most Kills on Winning Teams Odds
Most Kills | Odds |
---|---|
Streamer | -225 |
NFL Pro | +170 |
Much like the MVP award, there’s no way that an NFL pro outperforms one of these streamers. It’s like expecting one of these streamers to throw more touchdown passes than Baker Mayfield. This category really does seem like a lock.
Pick: Streamer (-225)
