- The LOL World Championship starts October 2 in Berlin
- DAMWON Gaming has seen their odds drastically improve over the past two months
- Are they worth seriously taking a look at to win the World Championship in 2019?
The League of Legends World Championship is quickly approaching as all of the competitive regions have either already started playoffs for the final split of the year, or they are just about to get underway. Since the odds opened for the best bets to take home the title there has been a lot of teams shifting around, one in particular being Korea’s DAMWON Gaming.

Just two months ago DAMWON were listed with 25-1 LOL World Championship odds after coming off of their Spring Split performance that saw them finish fourth in the playoffs. With their impressive play in the Summer Split they have jumped all the way to 8-1 odds, but are they worth taking a serious look at to win this year’s World Championship?
A DAM Good Chance?
Historically Korea has been a powerhouse region in the League of Legends world, with three different teams combining to take home five of eight World Championships, all five of which they won in a row. After a pretty rough year for the region last year that didn’t see any Korean team make it past the quarterfinals at the World Championship, the region as a whole was looking for redemption in 2019.
To start out the year it looked like there were a few teams that could realistically make a run at the title in 2019 with newcomers DAMWON Gaming being one of the more highly favored teams to do so. They did have a pretty good showing in the Spring Split managing a fourth place finish, but in the Summer Split they have really been putting on a show and making a case for them being a real threat to win out in Paris in the fall.

DAMWON has cruised to an 11-5 record in the Summer Split, good enough to be tied for first place with Griffin and SKT T1, and I believe this is the reason behind them making such a jump in the odds table.
They have shown all year long that they are one of the better teams in Korea, and when they attended Rift Rivals they put up an easy 2-0 and helped the region take the title and the bragging rights of the best Asian region.
Congratulations, to Damwon Gaming winning on Hanwha Life Esports ( 2-0 ) today and also congrats to SKT T1 for achieving rank 1 in week 8 of summer split !! Good luck SKT for their remaining 3 matches. #T1WIN #LeagueOfLegends #LCK pic.twitter.com/2nMpUm58nV

DAMWON Gaming should for sure be looked at as a serious threat to win the World Championship, they just have to focus on making it there because as League of Legends fans know the gauntlet can be unpredictable and I just don’t see them winning the Summer Split with the form SKT T1 is showing right now.
If they are able to play to their best abilities then they should be able to book a trip to the World Championship, and once they’re there really anything can happen.
Pick: SKT T1 (+450)
