- Anthony Davis looks like a lock to join the Space Jam 2 cast
- Klay Thompson and Damian Lillard are also expected to be in the cast
- Could Kyrie Irving join the Los Angeles Lakers and the Space Jam 2 cast?
The last time we checked in on Space Jam 2, LeBron James was having a tough time recruiting players to join his cast. Now that the production date is getting closer it seems like we have a clearer idea of who is set to be in the picture. Online betting sites have posted odds on this again, so let’s see if we can make some money based on the reporting.

Shams Charania Reports on the Cast
This past week Shams Charania, who is one of the most plugged in reporters in the NBA, posted a tweet with the news as to who is going to be in the cast. He stated that Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis, and Klay Thompson are all set to be in the movie.
Sources: Space Jam 2, starring LeBron James, is expected to feature key roles for Damian Lillard, Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson and WNBA stars Diana Taurasi and Nneka Ogwumike. Several more NBA and WNBA players, including Chiney Ogwumike, are expected to play roles in film.

The challenge is that the prop doesn’t give you the option to bet on any of these players. Of course, The Brow seems like a complete lock to be in it now that he’s joined James on the Los Angeles Lakers. However, we’re not able to bet that, so we have to examine who else is on the board to see if there’s some value.
Pass on Most of the Options
There are a lot of players to choose from with this prop but we can cross most of them off the list. The Hollywood Reporter has already stated that James Harden and Steph Curry are out. Of course, Space Jam 2 will be a big plug for Nike and the aforementioned two are not signed with Nike. Sneaker politics will keep them out.

As for Kevin Durant, we already knew that he was out mostly because he was planning to spend time on his own entertainment career. However, with his injury, he’s now even more likely to skip out. Giannis Antetokounmpo also turned the movie down. As for guys like JR Smith and James Jones, nobody really wants to see them in the movie, so don’t bet on it.
That leaves Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid.
Scratch the 76ers
Making the list even shorter, it makes sense to scratch the Philadelphia 76ers stars off the list. They’re coming off a tough loss in the playoffs and have a really big offseason in front of them. Both players have plenty to work on and it won’t be a good look if they spend time away from the team shooting a movie.

Take a Flier on Kyrie?
There’s a good chance Wade makes some sort of cameo in the movie. He’s still a popular figure and he’s retired now, so he has plenty of time. As for Carmelo Anthony, his star power is quite dull right now and he’s reportedly looking to make a return to the NBA next season.
Irving is an interesting bet at +210 as I have a sneaking suspicion he ends up with the Lakers this season. And Irving has already done some acting and movies in the past with his Uncle Drew role, so he might fit in.

It’s a bit of a longshot but it seems like the Brooklyn Nets are getting cold feet with Kyrie Irving. Maybe he opts to sign for a year with the Lakers, chase another ring and then revisit free agency next offseason. If so, he could sneak into the Space Jam 2 cast and you could cash in at +210.
Pick: Kyrie Irving (+210)
