- Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker will be released this Friday, December 20
- Skywalker, or “Episode IX”, marks the end of the sequel trilogy and the finale of the nine-part Skywalker saga
- The film is one of the most anticipated films of the decade
Soon, The Force won’t be with anyone. Well, that’s the case for many beloved Star Wars anthology characters at least.
Surely, with Disney’s moneymaker LucasFilms enterprise still generating plenty of cash we haven’t seen the last of this universe. But the Skywalker stories are bout to roll to a close.
42 years and nine episodic Skywalker films later and this anthology is finally about to wrap up. With the fates of so many beloved characters on the line, this beloved pop culture institution has plenty of curious minds anticipating the ending.
Will C-3PO and/or Kylo Ren Die in The Rise of Skywalker?
Character | Will Die | Won’t Die |
---|---|---|
C-3PO | -120 | -120 |
Kylo Ren | -300 | +200 |
All Odds taken December 16
First of all: Who is going to die in this thing? If we’ve learned anything from huge blockbuster Hollywood franchise films, it’s that not everyone makes it out alive.

Considering there is a massive battle anticipated to occur in Skywalker, death is definitely going to happen to at least a couple of iconic characters.
Kylo Ren is a villain, so he’s an easy bet to kick the bucket in this outing. But C-3PO is not even in the line of fire, seemingly. Ren is up against Rey, so if anything she would be the protagonist to die.
Pick: C-3Po: No (-120), Kylo Ren: Yes (-300)
How Many Times Will Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) Appear Shirtless in The Rise of Skywalker?
Odd | Odds |
---|---|
Under 1 Time | -200 |
Over 1 Time | +150 |
We’ve seen Adam Driver appear on-screen shirtless before in these films. Seeing Kylo Ren appear sans mask and sans shirt wouldn’t be a shocker.
It seemed gratuitous when it happened before, even spawning memes and a shirtless photo “Kylo Ren challenge” on social media. But that trick has been played out by now. The Rise of Skywalker has a much more focused narrative than previous entries into this trilogy.
Pick: Under 1 Time (-200)
How Many Times Will the Phrase “May the Force Be With You” Be Heard in The Rise of Skywalker?
Odd | Odds |
---|---|
Under 2 Times | -200 |
Over 2 Times | +150 |
The most iconic and classic phrase is all of Star Wars is certainly “May the Force Be With You.” One doesn’t even have to be familiar with the films to quote this legendary one-liner.
It’s been merchandised beyond belief and seems unnecessary to appear again in this film. Again, the producers and director have a mission to complete this time, so nostalgia and fluff moments are more likely to be kept to a minimum.

Using a phrase on repeat really loses its effect the more you hear it (Sorry, Groot). If Porgs and Baby Yoda have taught us anything, it’s that the company looks for new opportunities to merchandise rather than just banking on classics.
Pick: Under 2 Times (-200)
Will Baby Yoda Appear in The Rise of Skywalker?
Odd | Odds |
---|---|
Yes | +1000 |
No | -2500 |
With The Mandalorian still taking form on Disney+, the Star Wars series still has audience’s attention. Of course, the series’ leading character came in the form of Baby Yoda. Now Baby Yoda has gone on to massive appeal.
So far, it seems The Mandalorian and The Rise of Skywalker are not slated for any crossover moments. Disney is trying so hard to rev up attention to The Mandalorian on streaming, and mixing that narrative up in a preexisting film series just seems sloppy and complicated.
Pick: No (-2500)
Will Rey Turn to the Dark Side in The Rise of Skywalker?
Odd | Odds |
---|---|
Yes | +400 |
No | -700 |
Rey is a beacon of hope for Star Wars fans everywhere. Producers wouldn’t make her turn into a villain, would they?
It’s been said that The Rise of Skywalker is going to have a few twists and turns, but it’s pretty improbable that a character who has been on such a specific path would turn or be swayed this easily.
It feels impossible, but today wrapped photography on Episode IX. There is no adequate way to thank this truly magical crew and cast. I’m forever indebted to you all. pic.twitter.com/138AprtFuZ

Even if The Rise of Skywalker doesn’t end with a happily ever after ending, it’s still unlikely that Rey would turn to the Dark Side. After all, if she does, what else would fans hang onto as their source of optimism?
Pick: No (-700)
Will The Rise of Skywalker Have a Higher Worldwide Gross then Avengers: Endgame After 5 Days?
Odd | Odds |
---|---|
Yes | +300 |
No | -500 |
Even though Star Wars is a massive film industry machine, it’s up against big competition when you consider just how much of an impression Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame left on its audiences.
Let the final battle begin. See @StarWars: #TheRiseOfSkywalker in theaters this Friday. Get tickets: https://t.co/EbJ0vDHKyt pic.twitter.com/Qk5pPoJiVh

Endgame smashed nearly every record possible and is presently the highest-grossing film of all time. Can a space opera really compete with superheroes? It’s tough to say.
Ultimately though, Star Wars has a more devout fan base than Marvel and will come out in droves with intentions to break records. Just wait for it.
Pick: Yes (+300)
