Coming off an excellent year for television, the 2022 Emmy Awards on Monday, September 12th at 8 p.m. ET will recognize the best of the best. The much-anticipated installment will air live on NBC and simultaneously stream on Peacock with the red carpet ceremony kicking off at 6 p.m. ET on E!
As it stands, Ted Lasso, Succession and Hacks are all favored to do exceptionally well across each of the categories. All three shows were tremendously received this past year but have tough competition in Barry, Squid Game, Abbott Elementary and Euphoria.
Ahead of the 2022 Emmy Awards, let’s look at who is currently expected to emerge victorious in each category according to the current betting odds.
Outstanding Comedy Series Odds
Character | Odds |
---|---|
Ted Lasso | -150 |
Hacks | +375 |
Abbott Elementary | +425 |
Barry | +500 |
Only Murderers in the Building | +1600 |
The Marvelous Ms. Maisel | +2500 |
What We do in the Shadows | +4000 |
Curb Your Enthusiasm | +5000 |
All odds as of Sept. 8.
Ted Lasso Favored to Win Outstanding Comedy Series
Ted Lasso wrapped up its strong second season to an excellent response last October. Despite it not being overly fresh in the minds of fans and critics, it left a memorable enough impression to earn it the top spot in the odds as of now.

Even at +375, Hacks shouldn’t be underestimated coming off the several awards it won at last year’s Emmys event, along with a win for Best Comedy Guest Actress earlier this year. Ted Lasso has this category on lock, but Hacks is a solid second choice.
Outstanding Drama Series Odds
Character | Odds |
---|---|
Succession | -210 |
Squid Game | +250 |
Better Call Saul | +700 |
Severance | +1100 |
Ozark | +2200 |
Yellowjackets | +2500 |
Stranger Things | +2800 |
Euphoria | +5000 |
Succession Favored to Win Outstanding Drama Series
Since its premiere in 2018, Succession has been consistently killing it on HBO and has cleaned up at many awards shows year after year. Its third season last fall coincided with the phenomenon that was Squid Game, and for as popular Squid Game was worldwide, Succession has a bit more backing behind it having been on the air for a few more years.

Better Call Saul, Ozark and Stranger Things are all riding a wave of momentum right now with the standout season each of them had, but Succession is still the best bet for Outstanding Drama Series.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series Odds
Character | Odds |
---|---|
Bill Hader (Barry) | -150 |
Jason Sudekis (Ted Lasso) | +160 |
Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building) | +600 |
Nicholas Hoult (The Great) | +1200 |
Martin Short (Only Murders in the Buidling) | +1600 |
Donald Glover (Atlanta) | +2200 |
Bill Hader Favored to Win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Barry has been considered an underrated show by many that doesn’t often get talked about as much as it should for its stellar storytelling and acting, specifically by Hader. He did a masterful job during Season 3 earlier this year of completely transforming the titular character of Barry and leaving viewers wondering what’s next for him now that he’s reached the end of the road.

Jason Sudekis also deserves high praise for his role on Ted Lasso and for making it as beloved of a program as it is. Ted Lasso being favored for Outstanding Comedy Series helps it out in the odds for this one and will likely give it the ultimate victory, even though Hader deserves the nod.
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Odds
Character | Odds |
---|---|
Jean Smart (Hacks) | -400 |
Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary) | +325 |
Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Ms. Maisel) | +800 |
Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant) | +1400 |
Issa Rae (Insecure) | +2000 |
Elle Fanning (The Great) | +2200 |
Jean Smart Favored to Win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
As previously noted, Hacks could clean up at the Emmys this year based on how heavily its being favored for Outstanding Comedy Series and again in this category. Smart took home this award last year, and at -425 in the odds, all signs point to her repeating that feat at this year’s awards ceremony.

Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson and Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan are quality runner-ups, but neither are as much of a guarantee as Smart.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Odds
Character | Odds |
---|---|
Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) | -105 |
Brian Cox (Succession) | +160 |
Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) | +400 |
Jeremy Strong (Succession) | +900 |
Adam Scott (Severance) | +900 |
Lee Jung-jae Favored to Win Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Squid Game was an instant hit among viewers when it hit Netlix in late 2021 and for good reason. Jung-jae played his part to perfection and was fascinating to follow throughout that first season, though a case can be made for Cox absolutely owning his role in Succession as well.

Thus, it should come as no surprise that it’s a close call in the odds between the two of them. The other nominees were equally impressive, but Jung-jae deserves his flowers for this one and should be recognized as the winner.
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Odds
Character | Odds |
---|---|
Zendaya (Euphoria) | -125 |
Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets) | +225 |
Laura Linney (Ozark) | +300 |
Sandra Oh (Killing Eve) | +700 |
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) | +1000 |
Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show) | +1200 |
Zendaya Favored to Win Outstanding Lead Actress on a Drama Series
Zendaya’s monologue as Rue Bennett in one of the final few episodes of Euphoria’s second season make her an automatic favorite to take the trophy home for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, earning her the clear lead in the odds at -125.

Melanie Lynskey has a fighting chance at +225 for her role as Shauna Sheridan in Yellowjackets, as well as Laura Linney in the final season of Ozark. Zendaya is the safe and smart choice for this category, following up all of the awards the show has already won in years past.
