Quite simply, Joey Chestnut is the Wayne Gretzky of the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. He dominates like no other competitor, and the only records he breaks are his own.
As they get set for this annual rite of American passage each July 4th on Coney Island, sportsbooks are offering you the chance to see if you can gobble up as many wieners… er, winners as Chestnut. The sportsbooks have offered up a wide-ranging series of prop wagers on the competition.

How much further can the frankfurter king raise the stakes? Chestnut has already shattered the world record five times in this event. Are you going to bet against him?

A Female Joey
Nathan’s first held a separate women’s competition in 2011. Since 2014, Miki Sudo has been in a class by herself.
If you're betting, you might want to take the Under. If I'm being honest, this is the least prepared, but the happiest and most stress-free I've ever been going into Nathan's. 😅
— Miki Sudo ⭐️ (@OMGitsMIKI) June 29, 2019
She’s won every competition held since then – five in a row. On average she has consumed 37.7 hot dogs per year over that span. Sudo has only gone over 38.5 hot dogs once in those five years.
Pick: Under 38.5 (-130)

It’s a Chestnut Eat Dog World
There’s nothing pretty about competitive eating. This isn’t a silky-smooth Rory McIlroy shot off the tee, or an exquisite breaking ball delivered by Jacob deGrom. It’s get it in the mouth and down the gullet and move on to the next one.

Chestnut does this better than anyone, but 45.5 in five minutes seems extreme even for him.
Pick: Under 45.5 (-120)

Starting on Time
Athletes always talk about the importance of getting off to a good start. It’s no different in competitive eating.
Girl: do you get bored winning the hot dog contest by so much?
Me: you're asking if I get tired being the best in the world?
Girl: yeah
Me: No— Joey Chestnut (@joeyjaws) June 16, 2019
With his reputation, Chestnut can break the will of his opponents by quickly powering down a significant amount of hot dogs. Still, 9.5 seems a reach.
Pick: Under 9.5 (+150)

More Dogs, Please
It’s only happened twice since Nathan’s began the contest in 1967 – a tie requiring overtime. The OT winner is the first to down a plate of five hot dogs.

Chestnut beat Japan’s Takeru Kobayashi in an eat-off in 2008. Don’t count on another eat-off happening this year.

Will Anyone Blow Chunks?
Twice during the reign of five-time champion Kobayashi, there was controversy over whether he had vomited during the contest. Each time, judges ruled he hadn’t.

Under the regulations, regurgitation calls for disqualification.
Pick: No (-1200)

Oh Miki You’re So Fine
Sudo has reigned as Major League Eating’s top-ranked female competitor since 2014. That was her second season of competition.

Overall, she ranks third in the world when you combine the men and women in the sport. Her only competition on the women’s side of the ledger is to see if she can beat her own records.

The King of Nathan’s
Would you have bet against Michael Jordan to make the last shot of an NBA playoff game? Of course not.
Some of these streaks may never be broken 😳
