USC Should Get Respite Saturday
After surviving last week against a tougher than expected Oregon State squad, USC should get some nice home shelter on Saturday. The Trojans only managed 17 points at Corvalis. Against Fresno State and Stanford, USC’s offense looked much better combining to produce 86 points.
Maybe it was just an off week. The important thing is that USC stayed undefeated and even moved up one spot in the polls.

Thankfully for USC, Lincoln Riley and company get to face an Arizona State team that has struggled. Maybe the Sun Devils improve later in the season but this could be a solid opponent for the Trojans to wipe out any bad taste from the offensive side of the ball last week. Â It is a bit hard to believe USC is now a 25-point favorite as the Sun Devils have given up 30 or more points in their last three games. Can USC get back to their 40+ point scoring ways?
Also, it appears that Quarterback Caleb Williams should be able to get back in form. He still has not thrown an interception all year and has combined for 11 touchdowns in all (nine passing, two rushing). Travis Dye and Austin Jones should be able to find holes against a Sun Devils’ defense that allows 182.5 yards rushing a game. Furthermore, Williams should find passing easier as Arizona State tries to stop the run.
Defense, defense, defense. That was the topic of discussion at Wednesday's football practice as USC hopes its defense can stop Arizona State's Emory Jones on Saturday. Our recap of today's practice:https://t.co/bCL0TP6sMc

Since stealing the game at Oregon State with their defense, the Trojans cannot let their guard down against Arizona State. Even with the 106th-ranked offense in terms of points per game (out of 131 FBS teams), USC understands every game is important. After all, Utah looms in two weeks.
The defense will pressure Emory Jones a good deal and should be able to slow down Xazavian Valladay just enough. Utah did last week to the tune of 57 yards from scrimmage.
Arizona State In A Tough Spot
Interim head coach Shaun Aguano cannot feel too good about this matchup. Knowing that his Sun Devils are allowing 32.7 points per game to FBS teams while not mounting offensively, the pressure is on. The Sun Devils face their third-ranked team of the season already and face No. 15 Washington next week.
Yes, the Sun Devils must get Xazavian Valladay involved early. Eight rushes and four receptions will not cut it. Aguano and his staff have to find ways, even unconventional to get him involved. Also, Emory Jones has to make a few throws. He has just three touchdowns in four games while only averaging just over 200 yards passing per contest.
ASU interim HC Shaun Aguano said that players, coaches and families of coaches held a team dinner Sunday night.
They ate for 45 minutes, there were 170 people and they did not talk football.

None of that matters if the Sun Devils cannot at least look respectable. Also, they have not been in any game in the past three weeks. Aguano may be likable, but he is probably in over his head here.
Arizona State’s preseason NCAAF win total of 6.5 is a dream. That under will hit.
USC vs Arizona State Prediction
ESPN’s Power Football Index projects Arizona State near the basement. It’s hard to see the Sun Devils making this much of a game.
USC could run away with this one and get to that 40+ point mark. The Trojans just have too much firepower for ASU to keep pace with.
Bettors may want to take the heavy home favorite to cover here — even at a 25-point spread.
