It’s incredibly rare for an FCS game to feature a future NFL quarterback. It’s nearly unheard of for one of those contests to feature two. That’s what makes tonight’s FCS National Championship Game so special.
Both North Dakota State and Montana State boast NFL QB prospects, which helps explain why they’re the top-two teams in the FCS. Cam Miller and Tommy Mellot are dual-threat unicorns, and are sure to be popular bets in tonight’s college football player props.

Miller projects for more passing yards than Mellot, but is a slight underdog to the latter to throw 2 TD. Mellot actually boasts the highest rushing yards prop at 91.5, 25 yards more than any running back.
Receiver-wise, Bryce Lance and Taco Dowler boast their team’s highest over/under through the air, and we expect the Miller-Lance connection to be busy.

North Dakota State vs Montana State Prop #1: Cam Miller Passing Yards
It’s not a stretch to suggest that Miller is on par with some of the qb’s that led their teams into the College Football Playoff bracket. Miller threw for over 3,000 yards and 31 TD this season, and is the reigning Missouri Valley offensive player of the year.
Monday will mark his 67th collegiate game, meaning there’s little he hasn’t seen before. The Bobcats are strong defensively on both sides of the ball, but are more likely to be beaten through the air than on the ground.
Montanta State yielded 795 yards and 5 TD to the top-three passing offenses they faced this season. None of those teams match the Bison’s efficiency, and none had a receiver like Lance.

Miller and Lance have hooked up for 16 receptions, 268 yards and 6 TD in the last three games alone. NDSU is currently a 3-point underdog, which means more passing volume than usual should be in store for Miller in catch-up mode.
- Pick: Cam Miller Over 214.5 Passing Yards (-115)
North Dakota State vs Montana State Prop #2: Scottre Humphrey Rushing Yards
Shifting over to the Bobcats offense, where we like a fade of Scottre Humphrey. The sophomore has been losing carries to freshman Adam Jones over the last month, and we project Mellot to eat heavily into that workload as well in a championship game.
Humphrey has 11 or fewer carries in four straight outings. He’s totalled only 28 touches during that span, compared to 78 for Jones. Mellot meanwhile, only averaged eight rushes per game during the regular season, but that number has ballooned to 14 in the playoffs.
- Pick: Scottre Humphrey Under 66.5 Rushing Yards (-115)
North Dakota State vs Montana State Touchdown Props
Player | First TD | Anytime TD |
---|---|---|
Tommy Mellot (MSU) | +550 | -170 |
Cam Miller (NDSU) | +800 | -130 |
CharMar Brown (NDSU) | +700 | -125 |
Scottre Humphrey (MSU) | +850 | +100 |
Bryce Lance (NDSU) | +1100 | +110 |
Adam Jones (MSU) | +1000 | +110 |
Ty McCullouch (MSU) | +1200 | +140 |
Taco Dowler (MSU) | +1300 | +150 |
Rohan Jones (MSU) | +1400 | +165 |
Barika Kpeenu (NDSU) | +1400 | +190 |
Switching to the touchdown props market, where we’ll happily lay -170 odds on Mellot to score. He’s done so three times already this postseason, and torched NDSU on the ground in last year’s playoffs.
North Dakota State vs Montana State Prop #3: Tommy Mellot Anytime TD
The senior pivot rushed for 151 yards and two scores in that contest, carrying the ball 18 times. He has five career 150+ rushing yard performances, including a 273-yard, 3 TD outing two seasons ago.
