Heisman Odds After Week 6: Jeremiah Smith Goes Minus Money

- Jeremiah Smith is now a heavy favorite after another two-touchdown afternoon
- Gunner Stockton won at Alabama and cut his number in half

Jeremiah Smith caught four passes Saturday. He still found the end zone twice and is a much shorter price than he was a week ago.
Gunner Stockton made the loudest move behind him. Georgia went into Tuscaloosa and won, and his number was cut in half this week.
Here’s where the Heisman odds stand after the contenders finished, and why I’m still on Smith heading into Week 7.
Updated Heisman Odds After Week 6
Odds from BetMGM as of Oct. 11, converted from decimal and rounded. New customers can grab a BetMGM promo code before betting futures, and you can compare numbers across the best college football betting apps.
Smith went from +100 to -222 in a week. That makes him a minus-money favorite, so you risk $222 to win $100, which works out to roughly a 69% implied chance before the book’s margin.
Stockton halved from +3000 to +1500. Darian Mensah drifted from +400 to +1100 during a bye week, the biggest slide among the contenders.
Smith Tightens His Grip on the Heisman Odds
Smith caught four passes for 93 yards and two touchdowns in a 45-16 win over Maryland. Both scores came in the first half, from 33 and 40 yards out.
Four catches is a quiet day by his standards. Averaging better than 23 yards a grab and scoring on half of them is not.
Look at the last three weeks together. He went for 217 yards and four touchdowns against Illinois, 206 and two at Iowa, then two more in a game where Ohio State barely needed to throw. Three straight multi-touchdown performances, two of them over 200 yards.
None of this is new for him either. He put up 76 catches, 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns as a true freshman in 2024, then went unanimous All-American in 2025. The Heisman odds are catching up to a player who has been doing this since he arrived in Columbus.
Next Saturday is the one that matters. Ohio State visits unbeaten Indiana at noon ET on FOX, and Smith went for eight catches and 144 yards against the Hoosiers last season. Another afternoon like that in a game that size, and I think this price gets shorter still.
Stockton Climbs the Heisman Odds After Alabama
Stockton went 18-of-22 for 249 yards and a touchdown in Georgia’s 20-17 win at Alabama. He also ran one in from 14 yards out in the third quarter.
That is 82% completions in a road game between two ranked teams. Georgia is 6-0, and Stockton’s Heisman odds sit at +1500 after being +3000 last week.
Keelon Russell finished 16-of-30 for 185 yards and a touchdown without throwing a pick, though Alabama never found much rhythm after an early strip-sack. His number moved from +1000 to +1500.
Carr and Hoover Hold Their Heisman Odds
CJ Carr threw three touchdowns on 14-of-20 passing for 181 yards in a 58-7 rout of Stanford, adding 41 rushing yards. Notre Dame is 6-0 and Carr’s Heisman odds did not move at +1000.
Josh Hoover helped Indiana survive a tougher afternoon. He was 12-of-22 but piled up 263 yards and two scores in a 20-17 comeback at Nebraska, hitting Nick Marsh for 44 yards on fourth-and-1 to take the lead.
Marsh finished with 187 receiving yards. Indiana is 6-0, Hoover held at +5000, and Ohio State visits next week.
Other Heisman Odds Movers
Julian Sayin threw four touchdown passes on 13-of-21 for 242 yards against Maryland and shortened to +3500. He also had a pick returned for a score, and he keeps running into the same problem, which is that his favorite target is the one collecting the Heisman credit.
Trinidad Chambliss trimmed to +1500 after a four-touchdown day at Vanderbilt, going 20-of-30 for 213 yards and three scores plus a 10-yard run in a 52-17 win.
Arch Manning drifted to +4000. He threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns against Oklahoma, but two interceptions and a 27-24 loss cost Texas its unbeaten record. Kamario Taylor also slid to +4000.
My Heisman Pick After Week 6
I’m staying on Smith. He’s the best player in college football, he’s producing every week, and his production makes him worth backing as the favorite.
The price is the only real question, and that’s where shopping matters. BetMGM has him at -222, while Kalshi has YES shares at 59 cents, which is approximately -144 before fees. A winning share pays out at a dollar. Of those two checked prices, Kalshi is the better of the two by a wide margin.
Pick: Jeremiah Smith to win the Heisman (59¢ on Kalshi)
If you’d rather not pay favorite money, Carr at +1000 is the alternative I’d point you to. Unbeaten team, three more touchdowns, and the same price he had a week ago while plenty around him moved. Notre Dame visits BYU on October 17.
Mensah at +1100 is more interesting than he was at +400, and nothing about his season got worse during a bye. Stockton at +1500 just won on the road against a ranked opponent.
Hoover at +5000 is the lottery ticket. Beat Ohio State next Saturday and that number will not survive the night.
