After neither team made it through its previous game unscathed, #1 Georgia and #3 TCU meet in College Football Playoff Championship Game at 7:30 p.m. ET Monday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
Georgia (14-0) lost a key player on offense and defense in the semifinals when it rallied to beat Ohio State 42-41 in the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. TCU (13-1) had its leading rusher get hurt in its 51-45 victory over Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl semifinal in Glendale, Ariz.
The game will be televised by ESPN.

Georgia Bulldogs Injury Report
Tight end Darnell Washington (ankle) and linebacker Chaz Chambliss (knee) are both questionable for the title game after being hurt against Ohio State.
Washington is technically listed as a reserve. However, he and All-America tight end Brock Bowers often are on the field at the same time.

The 6-foot-7, 280-pound Washington is an imposing figure who blocks like a tackle. His 27 receptions are fourth on the team and have gone for 426 yards and two touchdowns.
Washington was no longer wearing his walking boot by midweek, which was a good sign.
Next up on the depth chart is Oscar Delp, who has five receptions for 61 yards and one TD.
Chambliss has made just 14 tackles this season but 3.5 have been for a loss and he also has 2.5 sacks. If Chambliss cannot play, freshman Jalon Walker will likely receive more snaps.
Georgia Injury Report
Player | Position | Injury | Status |
---|---|---|---|
Darnell Washington | TE | Ankle | Questionable |
Chaz Chambliss | LB | Knee | Questionable |
Warren McClendon | OT | Knee | Questionable |
De’Nylon Morrissette | WR | Knee/Hamstring | Questionable |
Offensive tackle Warren McClendon (knee) is also questionable, but coach Kirby Smart seems optimistic about his chances of playing. McClendon was on the field for only one snap against Ohio State and that came on the kneel down on the last play of the game.
McClendon was injured in Georgia’s win over LSU in the SEC Championship Game.
A fourth Georgia player listed as questionable is wide receiver De’Nylon Morrissette (knee/hamstring). The freshman has just four catches for 34 yards.
TCU Horned Frogs Injury Report
Running back Kendre Miller is the only significant TCU player battling an injury. He is listed as questionable after hurting a knee in the upset of Michigan.
Miller left the game in the third quarter, but TCU survived despite missing such a key part of its offense. He has rushed for 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns on 224 carries.
No TCU player has had more rushing yards in a season since LaDainian Tomlinson led the nation with 2,158 in 2000.

Miller had also scored a rushing touchdown in 14 straight games before the streak ended against Michigan. That is one TD short of the school record, which is held by Tomlinson.
Emari Demercado stepped in and rushed for a career-high 150 yards in 17 attempts, setting up a TCU touchdown with a 72-yard run. He is the only player to rush for at least 100 yards against Michigan this season.
TCU Injury Report
Player | Position | Injury | Status |
---|---|---|---|
Kendre Miller | RB | Knee | Questionable |
For the season, Demercado has carried 107 times for 622 yards and six TDs. He had a total of four rushing touchdowns in his first four seasons at TCU.
How Could Injuries Affect Georgia vs TCU Line?
Washington and Chambliss are good players, but they are also not integral pieces for the Bulldogs. Georgia would miss Washington’s blocking more than his receiving and the Bulldogs have plenty of linebacker depth to cover if Chambliss can’t play.
Miller is a different story for TCU, though.
Granted, Demercado had the game of his career against Ohio State, but Georgia leads the nation in rushing defense, allowing just 84.7 yards a game. The Buckeyes are 23rd in that category. The going figures to be tougher against the Bulldogs.
It seems bettors haven’t placed much emphasis on injuries as the line has pretty much held steady at Georgia being a 13.5-point favorite since it opened. If late news breaks that Miller can’t play, it could prompt some last-minute money on the favorites.
